One of the most common products from Tamiya available online is paint. This Japanese manufacturer produces a wide variety of acrylic and enamel paints that allow model makers to achieve virtually any finish for their creations. Quite a few variations in methodology here as is to be expected. Any issues with airbrushing are very simply based on just a few variables, 1 paint thining ratio, 2 air pressure and ambient temperature. I think my biggest discovery is not to follow any particular recipe. Now I only use Mr Color paints and with these I have used all sorts of thinners and they all work but with major caveat. If you don't adjust air pressure accordingly then your going to run into strife. After stopping to wash my sprues to test out how the paint would go down I discovered that it was a waste of time, I've never had a problem. The only time I'll use alcohol to wipe down is if I've manhandled the model excessively. I do like to use Mr Hobby surface primer but I don't use it as a preparation paint although its very good for that but rather as a technique to fix small imperfections in the plastic or my assembly.Depends on the thinner, with water/ IPA 1:1, with MHLT 1:2 paint:thinner. This is only a guide as I never measure my ratio's for paint thinning I always base my thinning based on what comes out of the airbrush.

I use UMP/Stynylrez primer and mostly Tamiya or Mr Color thinned with Mr Color Leveling thinner with little or no issues. Tamiya 10ml Acrylic Paints are made from water-soluble acrylic resins and are excellent for either brush or spray painting. Recently, this week, I've started using AK Xtreme "metallics", I've not needed to thin these but being non-acrylic, I've no idea if their lacquer or enamels.

Thanks for supplying my paints bang on time. With the current pandemic causing delays due to the num ... Water/ IPA 50/50, 70/30, 20/80, 10/90 and 0/100. In Winter for instance I will use virtually 100% IPA because its 10-15deg C in my workshop. In summer I'll use a much higher water ratio when it gets above 28deg C. With all these I could be using anything between 10-20psi, this is a guide as I always look at a test pattern and listen to the sound of the airbrush. I've only used Gunze thinner (Mr. Color Leveling for the record) with Tamiya and Gunze acrylics, which I understand are acrylic lacquers. Works beautifully for me, as do cellulose/lacquer thinners from the DIY store. X-20A and isopropanol also work well. Dimensions Embroidery, Easymodel, EK Success Tools, Eurographcs, D-Toys, Eduard, Gluelines, Heller, Depending on how much I been using it my airbrush gets stripped down and given a "sonic clean" every 2 or 3 weeks, this is almost certainly overkill but I prefer to err on the safe side rather than slovenliness.
