SSC Releases Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference unveiled the women's basketball preseason coaches' poll on Tuesday afternoon, and Embry-Riddle is tied for sixth on the list. The Eagles received 44 points along with Palm Beach Atlantic. 

Three-time defending conference champion Tampa is the league's preseason favorite with 95 total votes and six first-place votes. Nova Southeastern followed with 85 points and four first-place tallies, and Eckerd picked up the final first-place vote with 82 points in third. 

Embry-Riddle returns 10 from last year's team including the top two scorers in Madyson Jean-Louis (12.9 PPG) and Keturah Balabyekkubo (11.7 PPG). Balabyekkubo also led the Eagles in rebounds per game (6.2), assists (55), and steals (52).

The 2023-24 season begins with the GSC/SSC Crossover Classic when the Eagles face Montevallo on Nov. 10 and Auburn Montgomery on Nov. 11 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Both start times are still to be determined.
