Summary

Description
English: Originally produced as an Android Mini-PC TV-Stick, there is a range of Operating Systems to run on RK3188 ARM SoC devices such as this one. Despite the Android logo on the outside it also runs other Linux distributions. The specific model name found on the board inside is MK809III V1.0. This device was built in the 25th week of 2013 and the PCB revision dates 2013-06-06. Its characteristics are:
  • Rockchip RK3188 ARMv7 SoC
  • GEIL 2GB DDR3 RAM memory
  • SK hynix 8GB NAND memory
  • Active ACT8846 Voltage Regulator
  • Broadcom AP6210 WIFI/BT Combo
  • ITE IT66121 HDMI chip
  • HAOYU HYM8563 RTC chip
  • Blue LED (power on, customizable)
  • 1 recovery button (paper clip hole on the side)
  • 1 µSDHC card reader
  • 1 USB2.0 OTG micro size connector (for peripheral or nand flash, see below)
  • 1 USB2.0 micro size connector (for 5V 2A power connect in normal usage)
  • 1 USB2.0 HOST full size connector (for peripheral)

to flash the device:

  • unplug every port of the device
  • use a paper clip to push the recovery button and hold
  • connect OTG port ONLY to a PC, wait a couple of seconds
  • release recovery button, flash using your favorite software

The device is very similar to Rikomagic MK802 IV or Radxa Rock devices, up to the extent that firmwares are interchangable. They are all built around the same RK3188 ARMv7 SoC.

The Kernel can be customized by the end user, as leaked Rockchip Kernel sources versioned 3.0.36 may be found on Github. Some work is in progress to integrate support into mainline kernel tree. For more info see [1]
