DL180 G9 High speed fan when adding SFP+ NIC Card
We want to add an 10Gbits SFP+ Card to our DL180 Gen 9 server, but when we do that the fans are going crazy (80%).
No temperature reading problem, no heating issue... Just the fans going very high...
We try the 665249-B21 HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560SFP+ Adapter. Same result with Mellanox noname NIC...
All the firmware is up to date....
Any clue ? Any SFP+ reference REALLY working with this server without increasing fan speed ?
Thanks in advance for your help

Re: DL180 G9 High speed fan when adding SFP+ NIC Card
Thanks for your answer. Sadly I already read this article ans it didn’t help me.
We installed the 560SFP+ (And we had to remove it because when it’s installed the fan are running high).
So the fan noise is directly linked to the presence of the card….
We’re just looking for some references of tested card that work without any problem with our dl180 gen 9…
Thanks again !

Have you looked at the IML or iLO event logs?

Re: DL180 G9 High speed fan when adding SFP+ NIC Card
What a shame to have to change the card despite the fact we check the recommandations before buying….

Re: DL180 G9 High speed fan when adding SFP+ NIC Card
We receive the 530SFP+ and installed the last firmware and YES, the fan slows down :
So I can confim so far the 530SFP+ is ok. We wait for the 546SFP+.
