Sold for $3,450 on 8/2/22comments-icon44Comments
No Reserve: Muskin Dune Cat

This Muskin Dune Cat is a single-seat ATV that was acquired by the seller in 2021, reportedly from its original owner who purchased it new in 1973 and drove it for a year before placing it in longterm storage. Subsequent service included installing a 224cc Predator four-stroke single and a torque converter as well as replacing the tires. Features include a dune-buggy-style fiberglass body finished in metal-flake gray over a tube steel frame, a black vinyl seat, a padded steering wheel, an automotive-type differential, a band brake, and 8″ steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. This Dune Cat is now offered at no reserve in Pennsylvania for off-road use only with its removed stock engine and torque converter and a bill of sale.

The Dune Cat was an ATV manufactured in the style of a mini dune buggy by HPE Muskin of Colton, California, for three years ending in 1974. This example features a fiberglass body finished in metal-flake gray with Dune Cat graphics over a tube steel frame.

Black-painted 8″ steel wheels secured by center-lock nuts and wearing chrome dog-dish hubcaps are wrapped in 18×8.50 Transmaster Rib tires up front and 21×11 Carlisle AT101 Chevron tires at the rear. Steering is handled by a pitman arm with tie rods, and stopping power is provided by a 6″ band brake on the differential.

The single-seat cockpit features black vinyl upholstery and a three-spoke steering wheel with a black rubber cover as well as accelerator and brake pedals. The vehicle came from the factory sans instrumentation, therefore true mileage is unknown. The seller estimates having added two hours of run time.

The replacement 224cc Predator four-stroke single was rated at 6.6 horsepower when new and was installed by the seller in February 2020.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement 20-series torque converter, a jackshaft, and a drive chain turning the sprocket on an automotive-type open differential with 1″ axles.

The stock non-running engine, torque converter, and belt are included in the sale.

The vehicle will convey on a bill of sale only.
