Hookah bar raid yields 30 under-15 children

About 30 children below the age of 15, including two girls, were rounded up during a raid on a hookah parlour on Monday afternoon.

Health officials from the BBMP and Shantinagar corporator Shiv Kumar turned up at Seven Hills on Residency Road around 3 pm. They found the premises choc a bloc with children, who were carrying their school bags and wearing their uniforms. They are from two high-profile schools in the vicinity. The establishment, which has a licence to run a snooker parlour, was immediately shut down. “We will file a complaint against the owner. It is for the police to take action,” said Shiv kumar.

The children were let off with a warning and their parents were not informed about the matter. “They were already quite frightened and many had exams the following day. Most of them had come to the place directly from school, which was why they were still in their uniforms. Given the number of kids present, it would have been quite difficult to call every parent,” said a health official at the spot.
