HTC brought the One A9 to the world a month ago today and the company's America president, Jason Mackenzie, assured that the phone would get new Android update 15 days after Google's update is pushed to the Nexus devices.
After a few weeks from release, HTC has confirmed that this won't be applicable to only the new numbered versions of Android. They say that they're actually committed to get monthly security patches, just like Google's recent November update, pushed to U.S. unlocked A9s "within 15 business days of Google's first push to Nexus". Although it is a few days more than 15 days, the update to the latest Marshmallow can be considered timely.
A spokesperson from HTC gave the following official statement:
"We expect the software update with Google's November security patches to receive TA (Technical Acceptance) later today and roll out to customers immediately thereafter".
So if you own a U.S. unlocked HTC One A9, soon you'll get an OTA notification. Unfortunately, other versions of the A9 along with carrier-branded and unlocked European models won't enjoy the 15-day update as they are deployed on a different software track.
By the way, as per a tweet from HTC's Mo Versi, tonight the November security update and the updates for camera and battery will be rolled out.
Back in the fall, Samsung gave a glimpse of the biggest Android tablet that will ever be produced by the Korean company - the Galaxy View. A week ago the WiFi variant was launched and now those who were waiting for the LTE variant can lay their hands on it as per the pricing structure given by AT&T.
AT&T has finally announced on Monday that they will provide service for the huge 18.4 inch Galaxy View tab from 20th November. For a short period of time this device would be made available by Ma-Bell for $99.99. This tablet has support for DirectTV and customers who will sign up for AT&T satellite package along with two year wireless service, will get the View for $100. Existing customers who wish to avail this discount on View, will need to purchase new line on a smartphone and activate AT&T Next service agreement for two years. Those who don't want to go for the DirectTV offer, can purchase the device for $0 and for next 20 months they will have to pay $30 per month. Apart from this the device can also be bought for $499 with a service agreement for two years.
Some of the key features of the Galaxy View released by AT&T are the following:
- 18.4 inch Full HD 1080p Screen
- 64 GB in-built storage and extended storage up to 128 GB
- 8 hours of battery life (continuous playing and watching)
- Easy conversion between TV-mode and Lap-mode
This tablet can be bought from retail outlets and online buyers will need to get it from att.com.
It has now been about a week since Samsung first started to roll out the Android security updates for some of its smartphones and now it's time for the Galaxy Note 8 to receive the same OTA package. One would think that being the company's latest flagship handset, it would get the update sooner than the other handsets, but they would be wrong. Although some carriers (including T-Mobile) did already start to ship the update out to the Note 8 in the US, this one is rolling out in China (SM-N9508) and Hong Kong (SM-N9500).
Check out the following to get an idea of what's to expect with the OTA security package of the month.
· Patches for 61 Common Vulnerabilities in the Android OS
· Patches for 6 of Samsung's own UI vulnerabilities
· Security patch against the Krack Attack Wi-Fi vulnerability
If you own a Galaxy Note 8 in China, you should be prompted to download and install firmware version N9508ZMU2BQK1 any time now. If you are in Hong Kong with your Note 8, firmware version N9500ZHU2BQK1 should be making rounds any minute now.

After too many rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is getting a Google Play Edition very soon. A Photo of the Galaxy S5 Google Play Edition has appeared on the Official Android Website (Android.com). The Photo shows a white Galaxy S5 running Pure Lollipop 5.0 along with photos of the other current GPE devices.
According to some trusted reports we received, Google will release the Galaxy S5 Google Play Edition with Android Lollipop Pre-installed on the device sometimes during November,2014. Looks like the company delayed the release of the device until the Android 5.0 Lollipop final version is official. Of course it will pack the exact same specs as te current Samsung Galaxy S5.

Google released the Android distribution report for the month of November. Android 4.4 KitKat continued its increase, it now runs on ONE out of every THREE devices out there with a percentage of 33.9% to be precise.
Android 4.4 KitKat's distribution number is up from 30.2% for the month of October. The KitKat share increase comes at the expense of Android Jelly Bean, which dropped below 50% (it was 50.9% last month).
Shares of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Android 2.3 Gingerbread dipped 0.7% each from a month ago to 7.8% and 9.1% respectively. Version 2.2 Froyo on the other hand is still alive and kicking it boots on 0.5% of all Android devices out there. Android 5.0 Lollipop isn't included on the chart yet but it will be next month as it's still below 0.1%.
The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V will finally be out on November,18th. There's a big caveat, though: this release date only applies for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. The PC will be relesed on January 27, 2015.
That represents quite the delay, as previously Rockstar said all three versions would be out this fall. Alas, that won't be the case.
To celebrate the announcement of the official release dates, the company has published a new trailer for the game, which you can see below. It's also released a bunch of new screenshots, one of which is pictured above.
Latest reports from Google, confirming that the first Android 5.0 Lollipop over-the-air updates is coming to Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013 Wi-Fi) and Nexus 10 devices only, and it will start rolling-out on November,3rd.
The Rest of the devices Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2013 LTE) will get the same Lollipop OTA update later on November as well, but because radio and carriers variants takes more time on testing than the regular Wi-Fi only devices.
In both cases all the Nexus family will get the Android 5.0 during November starting with the Wi-Fi only tablets on the third day of the month. Check out what's New on Android 5.0 Lollipop!
Lollipop OTA updates to Google Nexus device has been delayed from November,3rd due to a Bug that Google has already fixed few days ago, so the update are ready and on the way. Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA Updates will start Rolling-out on November,12th to Nexus devices.
Google will probably release the update to the I-Fi only devices first, like the Nexus 10, Nexus 7 and Nexus 2013. Other 3G/4G radio devices includes all Nexus Smartphones (Nexus 5, Nexus 4) and tablets with data connectivity will be update later this Month. Google is also expected to release the Lollipop images for all Nexus devices in the same day (Nov,12th).

Big news about the upcoming Motorola Nexus! We have been getting a ton of info about Motorola's plans to release the Nexus X. It sounds like Google's plans are to basically do the same as last year. But, first off, that name Nexus X is not official, but is the name being used internally at Motorola for the device and it is said to "most likely" be the official name of the device, which will use model number "XT1100".
This model will be the last Nexus device as Google is moving to Android One Program devices very soon. Many outlets, including us, have been using the name Nexus 6 because this is the 6th Nexus device, and because it is going to have a 5.9-inch display. But, regardless of how much sense it makes, Google will not be using that name because of trademark issues.
In terms of the release plans, we're being told that Google is planning a secret launch just like last year. The Nexus X will be released on or around Halloween without an announcement. We've been expecting the release to be in November this year, so this makes sense.
We all still waiting for the final version of the Android 5.0 Lollipop to be released, so that manufactures can start preparing for their OTA updates.
Today, Google officially announced that "Android Lollipop Day" is November,3rd... This day will be the day we see the official Final version of the Android 5.0 Lollipop Images. Google announced that via an Email to Google developers:
Starting November 3rd, Nexus 9 will be the first device available to consumers that will run Android 5.0. Therefore, it is a great time to publish on Google Play, once you've updated and tested your app. Even if your apps target earlier versions of Android, take a few moments to test them on the Android 5.0 system images, and publish any updates needed in advance of the Android 5.0 rollout.
Tomorrow (November,3rd) is the Big Day... "Android Lollipop Day", Google is reported to release the official Android 5.0 Lollipop version... Lollipop will be finally our of BETA. Google will also seeding out Lollipop OTA updates to Wi-Fi only Nexus Devices, Nexus 10, Nexus 7 and Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi only.
Other Nexus devices (Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2013 3G) will get Lollipop OTA update by the End of this month (November). The Final Official Android 5.0 Lollipop (API 21) will pack some bug fixes, performance improvements and may be even some new features that Google kept to the final release.
It's all Coming Tomorrow, Let's wait and see!
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are now receiving the November patch from T-Mobile. To be honest, we were a little surprised as it's not often that a Samsung phone receives the monthly security patch this early. In fact, T-Mobile has not even listed the OTA update on its website yet. Therefore, feel free to check manually from Settings > About device > Software update, but do not be disappointed if you cannot see it being available for you phone right now.
The update comes in an OTA package of about 82MB for both the S7 and the S7 Edge. Post the download and installation, the S7's firmware version will change to G930TUVU4PK1 and that of the S7 Edge to G935TUVU4APK1. Even though there isn't any concrete document to confirm it, this update could also make the S7 and S7 Edge compatible with 256 QAM and 64 QAM for improved download speeds. We will surely get to know more in the next few days, in the meanwhile, we just hope that the manufacturers and the carriers continue to work together and provide their customers with such timely updates!

Just like plenty of other regions around the world, the Galaxy S7s in India have also started to receive their November security update since yesterday. If you own an S7 Edge however, you will have to wait a while longer. Like always, the security update includes Google’s monthly security patches for the Android OS in general (6.0.1 Marshmallow), as well as fixes for 14 vulnerabilities unique to the Samsung smartphones. Overall improvements in terms of stability and performance were also mentioned in the changelog, but nothing else was pointed out specifically.
Head over to Settings > About device > Software update on your S7 and search for the November patch manually. If it hasn’t arrived on your phone yet, just wait a while longer as OTA updates never reach all phones in an area at the same time. If it’s already there however, connect to your Wi-Fi, download the 64.42MB file and install it. The Build Number of your S7 should show G930FXXU1BPJJ after the update is complete.

The Galaxy S7 Edge has already begun to receive its version of the November patch from Samsung in various regions around the world. Germany and Australia joined those ranks yesterday when reports confirmed the news. Just like the November security patch for the regular S7, this update includes Google's monthly security release for November and fixes the 14 issues that are unique to the Samsung smartphones only.
It is advised that the hefty 157MB package be downloaded via a stable Wi-Fi connection. Once you are done with the download and installation part, your S7 Edge's firmware version will change to G935FXXU1BPJG. Disappointingly, no new features were mentioned in the changelog. The entire update basically consists of bug fixes, patches and stability improvements. Feel free to check if the package has arrived for your Galaxy S7 Edge manually from Settings > About device > Download Updates Manually. Even if it isn't there right away, the OTA package will come to your device soon.

As we had reported earlier, Samsung will allow a limited number of S7 and S7 Edge users to experience Android Nougat 7.0 as beta testers before its official release on the two smartphones. Today we have official confirmation about the news and we have even been given an exact date. The beta testing will be available for eligible users to download, install and use from November 9. The testing will go on till the middle of the next month (mid-December), at the end of which, the final build of the OS might become ready for official release.
If you have not already, download the Galaxy Beta Programme application from Samsung's own Galaxy Apps Store. Fill out the application form necessary to apply as a beta tester for the OS and keep your fingers crossed! After this, the beta version will become available for you to download from November 9 as OTA updates, provided you are selected for the testing. If you are indeed selected, Samsung will accept suggestions and feedback from you in regard to your experience in using the build.
As of now, reports suggest that the beta testing in the UK is only available to the unlocked versions, while in the US, the option is available to the versions sold by T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint only. Strangely enough, the Olympic Edition and the Injustice Edition units of the S7 Edge will be left out of the programme.

Security update for the month of November has finally arrived for the Galaxy A3 (2016) in Europe. The update is only available to the unlocked versions of course, as carrier versions usually get their updates a little later than the unlocked ones. The package contains all the 60 improvements and bug fixes found in the Google Android Security Maintenance Release for the month of November. Additionally, there are also 14 unique patches and fixes from Samsung, catered specifically for their own handsets.
Other regions should also start receiving the security package via OTA soon, but the exact timeline isn't clear at the moment. If you are in Europe however, you should get an OTA prompt to update your device very soon, if you have not already. Just to make sure, go to Settings > About device > Software Update and search for it manually. When it does arrive on your A3 (2016), the firmware version will change to XXU2BPK2, post the download and installation process. OTA updates are rolled out in batches, so it might take a week or so for it to reach all devices within the eligible region.

A new update has been released in Netherlands for the Galaxy J7 (2016), which contains the security patches from Google and Samsung for the month of November. The OTA package is about 190MB in size and comes in with the prospect of fixing bugs and closing vulnerabilities on the J7 (2016), along with providing the usual improvements in performance and stability. Other European countries should also be receiving the update file promptly within the next few days.
When OTA updates come to a device, the phone usually prompts the user about it automatically. But you can also check for it manually from Settings > About device > Software update. Once your J7 (2016) is updated with the firmware, its build number should change to J710FXXU2APK2. Did you receive it already or are you still waiting for Samsung to release it in your region?
If you like your J7 (2016), you should be happy to know that a more improved version of the smartphone is coming in December in the form of the new Galaxy J7 (2017).

Even though it is already December, the two Samsung flagship smartphones from 2015 have just started to receive the November Security patch on T-Mobile. As expected, the OTA update brings all the security patches from Google and Samsung's own 14 fixes for the month. The phones should also become more stable and improve in performance as per the changelog.
Post the download and installation, the firmware version should change to G920TUVU5EPK5 on the Galaxy S6 and G925TUVU5EPK5 on the Galaxy S6 Edge. Of course, if you are not on contract with any carrier, you have probably already received you November security update from Samsung weeks ago. In fact, the December security update from Google is about to be released any time now. It usually takes a few days for the OEM to prepare the update for its specific models and incorporate them with some of their own custom fixes, before the carriers can have access to the ROM and further add their own customizations to it. This is basically the reason why there is usually a delay in-between.

We are almost a week into December, but Samsung has only just released the November security update for its flagship smartphone from 2014. The OTA file has so far been reported to be available in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. This particular update concerns only the unlocked versions of the Galaxy S5 and not the carrier specific ones. Even though it's late, we are quite happy to see that Samsung has not abandoned the S5 completely.
The security update comes in with the same multiple fixes as is the part of all the other November Security Maintenance Release (SMR) from Google, as well as the 14 fixes from Samsung for the month. Even if it has not arrived in your region, don‘t worry as it will eventually reach all regions as always. In the meanwhile, Google has already released the final version of the Android OS 7.1.1 and the December SMR on the same date. Samsung on the other hand, is still testing out Android 7.0 on its flagships from this year (Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge) under the Galaxy Beta Program.

The Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge have started to receive security updates for the month of November just recently. If you are wondering why the two devices did not get the update earlier, the answer is that they are both old devices now and have therefore slipped way down the ladder of priority. Even though these phones were flagships from Samsung in 2014, the two year expiry date is already over.
The security patch is around 60 MB in size and alongside the Android SMR for November, it also brings improvements in domestic data roaming on the two smartphones. After you have downloaded and installed the small update on your device, the firmware version should change to N910TUVS2EPK2 on the Note 4 and to N915TUVS2DPK2 on the Note Edge. If you have any of the two handsets on T-Mobile, you should be prompted to update your device anytime now. Don't be confused by T-Mobile's official page where the last update rollout date for these two phones from the carrier is still being shown as October 24. It's just that they haven't updated that page yet.

If someone had told me that Samsung is about to update the Galaxy J5 (2015) with its latest Android Nougat 7.0 update, I would probably think that he/she is confusing the J5 (2015) version with the J5 (2016). As it turns out, that is not quite the case and according to reports from multiple sources, the Galaxy J5 is indeed going to updated to Android Nougat 7.0 after all!
If that news pleasantly surprised you, then you would be glad to know that we also have a date for you and that date is set on November 3, 2017. The details seem to be very legitimate and unexpectedly detailed; let's just hope that it really turns out to be true because it is always good to see Sammy looking out for some of its older low budget handsets. You can argue that November 2017 is a bit too late for Nougat, but as I always say, better late than never. Although it is expected that all models of the J5 (2015) will be getting it, the particular model number associated with the reports is SM-J500F. Just in case you want to check out the full list of scheduled updates, we have it for you right here.

It might already be December, but Samsung is still in the process of rolling out Google's last month's updates to many of its smartphones in various regions. Even premiere flagship handsets like the Galaxy Note 8 is only getting it now in India and Europe, but there is no way to tell when it will be time for the mid-rangers that did not yet get the November patch.
According to SamMobile, the update doesn't add any improvements to the Note 8's Live Focus feature which was the highlight of the Note 8's November release from Samsung in US and Taiwan. This is not to say that the handsets in Europe and India won't be getting the improvements, because it would be strange and unexplainable if they don't! Samsung will probably soon add the tweaks in the regions where it has not been added yet via either a separate update or the upcoming December patch. The good news is that the November patch fixes the threatening KRACK Wi-Fi vulnerability, 61 Android bugs and 6 Samsung UI related issues for now.

Samsung's update schedule regarding the monthly security updates have been a jumbled mess lately, but if you own a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge in the Netherlands, we have good news because the November security patch has just started rolling out to the two smartphones in the region. The OTA update will come in with firmware version G930FXXS1DQK1 if you have a S7 and firmware version G935FXXS1DQK1 for the S7 Edge. Both packages weigh in at around 20MB only, but that's to be expected, given that the only major flaw which it corrects is vulnerability to the Krack Wi-Fi hack.
In addition to the 61 fixes which Google detailed in the November patch, this month's update will also fix six of Samsung's own problems in the two smartphone's overlying user interface. Keep in mind that this update is live only for the unlocked versions of the two smartphones in the region and it will take a bit of time before the carrier versions get it.

The Galaxy Tab S2 is getting quite old now, but it still is receiving regular updates from Samsung and the respective carriers. Although it's quite doubtful whether or not the tablet will ever be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo, there is no doubt regarding the fact that the security updates will continue to be rolled out for the device for some time at least.
The details of the November security update as released by T-Mobile can be checked out from here, in case you are interested. Anyone following Samsung's latest update schedule knows that they have been quite unpredictable lately. After skipping the September patch altogether in favor of patching the BlueBorne threat, Samsung decided to roll out the October security update in mid-November for even flagship handsets such as the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Just as we had started to think they might skip the November patch as well, the OEM proved us wrong by releasing the November security patch for a number of its smartphone and tablets. The Galaxy Note 5 happens to be the latest of the lucky handsets that are getting the OTA November security updates, but instead of starting in Europe like these usually do, the roll out was seen first in Taiwan according to SamMobile.
You probably know this already, but just in case you don't, here are the major fixes included in this patch.
· Fixes for 61 vulnerabilities in the base Android OS
· Six fixes for Samsung's own overlying UI
· fix for the KRACK Wi-Fi threat

Samsung might have messed up their scheduled security updates quite a bit ever since the BlueBorne threat was detected, but they are getting back on track now. They have started releasing the November security patch for multiple devices in various regions. If you happen to own a Galaxy A7 (2017) in India, then you will likely be prompted to update your phone any time now, if you have not been prompted to do so already. Check out the software update section manually to know for sure. If the update is not there yet, don't worry about it because it's only a matter of time.
The update comes in at a decently heavy size of 330MB, via firmware version A720FXXU2BQK2. It includes fixes for 61 vulnerabilities in the base Android OS and 6 in Samsung's own overlying UI. There's also a patch for the KRACK Wi-Fi vulnerability included, in case you are wondering. Although the exact details were not shared by SamMobile, we are guessing this update also patches the BlueBorne threat on the A7 (2017), given that this is the first firmware update that the smartphone is receiving in the region since it got updated to Android Nougat.

The Galaxy S8 was actually one of the last handsets in Samsung's elite line-up to receive the security patch for October, so we were not sure when the handset would be receiving the November patch. The good news is that the update is now rolling out to the S8 and S8+ handsets across Netherlands.
If you own a Galaxy S8, firmware version G950FXXU1AQK7 should be heading for your S8 any time now, provided you are in the Netherlands or at least in Europe! The Galaxy S8+ is also receiving the same update in the region, but in the form of firmware version G955FXXXU1AQK7. Both updates are quite big as it turns out and weigh in at roughly 545MB. Aside from the usual 61 fixes that this month's Google patch brings to all devices running on Android, this update will also address the Krack W-Fi vulnerability and make Bluetooth connections with device more stable. In case you are wondering when the S8 will start receiving the same update in your location, it's probably going to take a week at most.

The Galaxy J7 Pro is the latest on the OEM's list as the model just started receiving an OTA package with the November security patch a few hours ago. As of now, the update is only rolling out in Paraguay, but this is an indication that the J7 Pro in the other regions will start receiving the same release soon as well.
This update (firmware version j730GUBU2AQJ3) patches six of Samsung's own UI related vulnerabilities and 61 of Google's Android OS bugs and gaps. In case you are wondering, it also patches the infamous KRACK Wi-Fi hacking vulnerability as well. If you are reading this in Paraguay, then chances are that the update will hit your smartphone any time now, if it hasn't already. In case you are lucky enough to get the same update in some other region, do let us know in the comments.

Today's brand new firmware updates include a combination of something for both the older and comparatively newer Samsung smartphones. Just choose the right model, go through our tutorial and download the firmware rigth now.
New firmware updates for November 30, 2017 are here. Check out the list below to find the right one for your smartphone. However, we recommend checking out this tutorial on how to flash Android updates manually with ODIN 3 before proceeding.
The Galaxy Note 5 is getting old now, but it still continues to be an excellent smartphone nevertheless. If you happen to own one and you stay in the Indian subcontinent, we have good news for you. The Galaxy Note 5 is being updated with last month's security patch by Samsung in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The update is late as the Galaxy A (2016) series has already started receiving the December security update from the OEM, but at least it's finally here.
The update comes in at quite a manageable size of only about 20MB, so you don't really need your Wi-Fi to download this one. Firmware version/build number of the OTA package is N920GDDS3CQK1, in case you are wondering. It brings the same fixes that it did for every other Samsung smartphone that got updated with the November security patch; 61 Android OS patches, 6 Samsung software patches and the KRACK Wi-Fi patch. Let us know if you can see the same update to any other nearby regions.

Take it as you may, but Samsung does not believe in giving preference to its more expensive or flagship devices while rolling out monthly security updates. While the last month of the year is well on its way, Samsung has so far only rolled out the month's security patches to the Galaxy A5 (2016) and now, the Galaxy C7.
The update is rolling out in China at the moment according to reports and SamMobile speculates that this would likely mean that the flagship handsets like S8, S8+ and the Note 8 will have to wait till next year, aka mid-January to receive this same update.
Aside from fixing multiple problems plaguing all Android devices, the OTA patch will also take care of ten vulnerabilities unique to Samsung devices only. We would say that the update will make its way to other nations as well, but that is not quite going to be the case, given the fact that the Galaxy C7 was only launched in China.

The Galaxy S6 Edge+ is receiving the November security update from AT&T as you read this. Yes, you read that right, the carrier is rolling out last month's patch in the middle of December! Perhaps they would have skipped the November patch altogether in favor of the December patch, had it not been for the multiple critical vulnerabilities that last month's patch addressed, including the KRACK Wi-Fi hack and the BlueBorne hack. Nevertheless, that's no excuse for sending it out so late. The good news is that it brings Mobile Hotspot APN with it.
The update is a large one at more than 400MB, so make sure that you have your S6 Edge+ hooked up to your Wi-Fi first. Post the download and the installation, you should see the present build number as G928AUCU4EQK6. As you probably know already by now, it fixes 61 Android OS bugs and six of Samsung's own software bugs.
