With so many gorgeous towns and villages to explore in Wiltshire, there is hardly any need to venture outside of the county borders. But if fancy something a little different then why not explore some of our neighbouring counties.

To our South, the county of Hampshire boasts plenty of beautiful spots to visit, many given the stamp of approval by A-listers. Given how many celebs live in the area, it wouldn't be too surprising to bump into one of these if you decide to take a visit to Petersfield, reports HampshireLive.

Located in the glorious South Downs National Park, it is only around an hours drive from Amesbury. The ancient market town is the perfect place to spend a weekend, known to be a vibrant place for shopping and eating out.

It is also well known for its thriving music and arts scene. The Petersfield Musical Festival is a week-long musical extravaganza in March, which has taken place since 1901.

With that in mind, it is perhaps unsurprising the area is a popular spot for celebrities to call home. The area is also home to some of the best and most exclusive schools in the country.

Churcher's School in Petersfield educated actor Alex Lawther, while Beadles School also near the town educated Location, Location, Location star Kirstie Allsopp, as well as three-time Oscar winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis, Cara Delevingne and Lily Allen.

Lily Allen, and her younger brother Alfie Allen, who starred in Game of Thrones, were both sent to the school by their famous dad, actor and musician Keith Allen. Allen is not however the only musician to have reportedly chosen to educate their children in and around Hampshire.

In 2019, former Oasis star Noel Gallagher is reported to have purchased an incredible £8 million mansion not far from Petersfield. The Daily Mail reported at the time that the star had purchased the property to allow his children to attend one of the many great public schools in the area.

Gallagher is believed to still live in the area, spending time at the South Downs property when not on tour with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

Alan Titchmarsh has lived in a Grade II listed Georgian farmhouse in nearby Alton for almost 20 years. You may remember the sleepy market town hit national headlines earlier this year after actor Alec Baldwin was spotted wandering down the high street.
