The One Room Challenge™ Week Eight- The Reveal

It’s been a long eight weeks, but lots of fun and I’m already looking forward to the next one.

I’ll be honest when I started I thought for sure this would only take me 3 weeks to complete, and my daughter would be in her new room and I’d be trying to come up with content along the way. Not the case. There were more DIYs than I’d realized; like the fun fringe on the curtain panels, and switching out the lighting. The paint and the wallpaper were time consuming, but I’m super happy that I did it on my own and saved some money that way.

I won’t string you along with the before pics…here are the AFTER!

We kept some of the major pieces like the wool shag rug from Allmodern, and the desk and book shelf from Target. The bed is a beautiful velvet straight from Wayfair, and honestly it looks really nice. The side tables are also from Wayfair and the sconces I found at World Market. The curtains we’d had for a while, I love the simple embroidered linen texture and wanted to keep them but they were a few inches too short. So I added a white bullion fringe to them and I think they turned out great.

There’s so much good texture happening here! Velvet, linen, embroidery, wool, glass and the rattan on the side-tables is the cherry on top.

Let’s take a minute to look at the art in this corner. The story behind the blue vintage pennant is that when the girls were babies, we took them to Cape May, NJ on our first family vacation. We lived outside Philadelphia at the time and we’re now outside of Boston. I had to include that little bit of their history here. We also have 2 vintage butterfly mounts; one from a yard sale and the other from my husband’s grandfather who was a collector. The beautiful red and blue mandala print is by Marianne Angeli Rodriguez, called “chrysalis”. The transformation theme, though not intended makes a lot of sense as Harper is coming into her teen years and figuring out who she is and wants to be. Paint color is Oceanside by Sherwin Williams.

The wallpaper is the beautiful Eucalif by Justina Blakeney of Jungalow designs.
