Man convicted of drug charges sentenced to 100 years in prison
A man convicted of drug charges in Madison County will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Carlos Allen, 33, was sentenced to more than 100 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
Allen was convicted in February 2021 of selling fentanyl, trafficking fentanyl, possession of hydrocodone and possession of amphetamine. Allen is a habitual offender, prosecutors said.
During his arrest, police found over 150 pills laced with fentanyl. Now, prosecutors are hoping the sentencing sends a message.
"Fentanyl is a serious issue in our communities, and we are doing everything to educate the public so we can stop these criminals from killing our children," said Bubba Bramlett, district attorney for Madison and Rankin counties. "If you deal fentanyl, you’re going to prison. You heard the judge say in there you don’t sell death in Madison County."
The family of 24-year-old Austin Elliott attended Monday's sentencing hearing. Through cooperation with investigators, Elliott's family helped connect the laced Percocet pill he took to Allen.
