Not at all. Take it out of the box and plug it in.

No assembly is required, however, I do recommend dusting the unit down prior to use. Keep it cleaned for optimal performance.

this heater is a radiant heater. there is no fan so the user has to sit pretty close to it. it is really quiet as a result

This will warm a small room if it is not drafty. It is a small low-wattage heater. You don't have to sit right on top of it either.

They have this style heater in a larger size, and those work really well in larger spaces.

Low power 300 watt supplemental heater, so that you don't have to turn the furnace up. Don't have to sit on top of it, but wont heat a whole room by itself.

In the past we've had a larger version 1,5oo watt heater. I wanted lower draw heaters as we have so many other electronics plugged in with the cable TV, Wii, digital phones, etc. This heater gives good heat coverage without eatting up the electricity.

Great Area Heater

Brought this for my wife, she is asthmatic and responds well to being in a dry heat sauna. This lamp used in a small bathroom and well ventilated functions very well. It directs the heat where you want it. If one is not asthmatic it works well as a heater that can be focused into a small areaa around 60 square feet.

I just love this heater, it's perfect for under my office desk.
No noise, silent, and not too hot like other fan based portable heater.
I am using it everyday during cold season.
300w power usage saves me some bucks on my electric bill too!

Nice little heater

I just purchased one of these little heaters, and am using it as I type this. The key here is to know what this heater is made to do - heat YOU using very little energy. This heater only draws 300 watts, and radiates heat for warmth for those who are in the path of it's radiation. As a result, you can comfortably lower the room temperature and save money in heating costs. Great for use when at the computer, doing paperwork, or watching television.

What this heater is *not* intended for is to heat a room. The description stating it is a 1500 watt heater is incorrect. There is a 1500 watt version that is great for large areas such as a garage where you won't be just a few feet away from it.

My only issues are that the build quality is not stellar - I don't expect this heater to last. Also the front grill becomes VERY HOT - I burned myself by accidentally touching the metal grill when repositioning it (there is a handle on the back for this). It may be small and low power, but items near it can become too hot - be careful as this little 300 watt heater still puts out strong heat in it's immediate area.

Overall I definitely can recommend this compact heater to anyone who needs heat but doesn't need to heat an entire room and wants to conserve energy!

Great personal heater - Just know what it is first

this is not a room heater (or only for a small room) we bought it for my father who is always cold in the house. he sits in hischair with the heater up on a small table and it keeps him warm and we don't have to turn the heat up

great radiant heater for one person

This is a very small heater and puts out very little heat. The one i received was not adjustable in terms of tilting the heater top which would not hold any position but down. Otherwise it's a good brand. I returned it and got a larger Optimus radiant heater that allows you to adjust the direction of the heat.

Very little power, very little heat.  To be concise, it was a waste of money.
It's  like the thrift store model of the real heat dish.

Buy a blanket instead

Not good, I used a month then broken. Turn on 1 min. then caution on. Even I push the reset on the back still not working.

Bad Quality

Thought I was getting the big one for the price these cost a couple years ago. Ordered 2. 
1 for upstairs and down. They are tiny and one has a crack in base. Cheap. Smell of burning.
