It works well. The shell may be made of hard plastic, but the parts inside appears to be quality. You get what you pay for. It can lower the temperature by 5-15 degree's depending on several factors.  It will save you a lot of money on your electric bill considering your AC wont be running nonstop. Just make sure you have a water pitcher or preferably a small water bucket with a spout.  Definitely would recommend, 5 stars.

Great value, helps survive summer!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Hessaire portable evaporative cooler is quite good quality as it is mainly made of plastic. The large wheels are well padded, making it very easy to move the cooler. You could do it with one hand, even when filled with 10 gallons of water. I figured out a way to fill it without starting a bucket brigade. He took a thin funnel and a piece of 5/8 inch clear vinyl tubing. Voila, the end of the funnel fits into the end of the tube that feeds the water tank and I can fill it in a few minutes without water spilling out of the kitchen faucet. Yes, silly but it made me happy. The refrigerator is impressive for the amount of air it can move.

I bought this for the garage/work shop. With outside temperatures up the 120 degrees in summer, the shop becomes unbearably hot. This portable evaporative cooler was easy to set up. We're running a short hose from the shop sink to the unit and it cools the area nicely. It also has a water reservoir if we want to move it elsewhere. It doesn't need to be connected to the hose. Very pleased with the purchase.

We bought this swamp cooler after our motor died in our other one. Shipping was quick and the price was reasonable.  It works really well and keeps our living room nice and cool in the summer. It is smaller than our previous one but it works better and is quieter- we love it.

Cools the room quickly!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We gave it a quick test run since it hasn't been hot lately. It works great. My husband really loves it. Assembly of the wheels was quick and easy. Wish them part when you put the water was a little bigger it would make it easier to pour the water in. Other than that we have no complaints. If it's as hot as it was here last summer, it will come in handy, especially when wanting to cook outdoors on the patio area. It's bulldog approved. Lol

Works great

Does a great job cooling.   Rolls easily from place to place.  The only drawback, and not a deal breaker, is the small inlet for pouring in the water, it is time consuming and you have to bend over.  For some of us, that causes back pain.

Not really disappointing

This unit is probably designed to last about 4 years is my guess...  barring a pump or pad replacement somewhere in there.  We have "hard water" here in Phoenix, AZ, so that make a difference.

On thing I have noticed about this cooler is that on a very dry, hot day, and if the unit fan is on high, I was getting dry spots on the pads in some places, of which is not conducive to the best possible evaporation cooling.  It is something that could be overcome though, by turning the fan medium, or low, or by running the water pump alone for awhile before turning on the fan, getting the pads wet "first", then the fan on.

Overall it is working out well, since the humidity and dew points are low here in the desert...

It's pretty good...

Water distribution to pads is limited (It's an easy fix if you're handy, but at this price, should you really have to modify it before it works well??). This unit is cheaply built, it has the capability to be a MUCH better product with very little effort. The water distribution system used to soak the pads is a "waterfall" type system instead of a plumbed drip system. What this means to the common person is that if this unit is not 100% level (how likely is that in a portable unit?) only part of your pads will get wet. These internal waterfall distribution units are also made of plastic and are only supported on the ends. This means that if you store this unit in a hot place (like a shed) and it gets too hot, the waterfalls will warp and mess up your water distribution (mine were warped when it arrived, but I really needed it, so I made it work). It's an easy fix to replace this distribution system with a plumbed drip system that is much more efficient (and much less likely to be affected by level or warping). Dry pads=less cooling, air will always travel through the path of least resistance, if any section of your pads are dry, that is where the most air will travel. Go to the home store and get some PVC and drill small holes along the bottom of it every 1/2" or so and replace the waterfalls. Make sure your pads are well soaked and this unit will do what it is designed to do... If you are modifying the internal water distribution anyway, I also recommend getting a stronger submersible water pump (available anywhere they sell fountain/pond supplies online (the installed one is pretty weak)). 
The fan on this unit is STRONG and pretty quiet, once the water thing is fixed, this unit does a great job cooling a 1-1/2 car garage against the hot (DRY) Arizona summers!
