Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, announced on Wednesday that they had tested positive for coronavirus, but the 63-year-old actor didn’t let the disease dampen his signature charm.

“We Hanks will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?” he wrote on Instagram, delivering the calm and reassurance that the Trump administration has thus far failed to impart.

Now, Hanks has posted an update on Instagram, knowing, in his infinite wisdom, that many of us would not be able to rest easy unless we knew how our favorite actor and pretend dad was doing:

Hanks posted a selfie of himself and Wilson in isolation in Australia, clad in matching baseball caps (Dad! Mom! You’re embarrassing me!), with yet another reassuring caption: “We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no?” Hanks ended his dispatch with an A League of Their Own reference that I, for one, sorely needed in these trying times: “Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball.” He concluded with his usual sign-off, “Hanx.”

Hanks isn’t the only member of his family to weigh in on the pandemic; his rapper son Chet took to Instagram on Thursday and, in a shirtless style normally reserved for aspiring Soundcloud stars, explained that his parents weren’t “trippin’,” despite their diagnoses.

Hanks’s oldest son Colin also commented, telling the world via Instagram that his parents were “receiving excellent care in Australia.” Thank goodness!
