As time passes, some icons remain as beacons of era-defining looks. Bombshell blonde, for example, will forever be associated with Jerry Hall. The point was proven just last night when Hall joined daughter Georgia May Jagger and colourist Alex Brownsell at the pair’s Bleach London U.S. flagship salon in Los Angeles, Hall’s blonde blowout an ode to her role — and above-neck serve — in 1989’s Batman.

Positioned next to Jagger’s deeply rooted peroxide, Hall’s hair showcased a more golden take on cool, the hue freshly updated by Brownsell ahead of the event. The similarity to Hall’s turn as antagonist Alicia Hunt was no accident, with Brownsell looking to the late-’80s iteration for an updated blend of soft and bright.

“I wanted a look that felt unapologetically Jerry,” said Brownsell of creating the supermodel’s pitch-perfect blonde tone. “I referenced one of her most famous blondes, her Batman era [by creating] a creamy, bright colour that would really show off the incredible health of her hair.” The difference came courtesy of the styling, the brushed-out cascade of curls, favoured by the model in decades past, exchanged for a polished — though still deeply parted — finish. Because trends come and go, but aspirational hair colour? That’s forever.
