Life is presumably very strange for Barron Trump. Donald Trump’s youngest child has to deal with his father being, well, Donald Trump, constant media attention surrounding his controversial family, and the everyday perils that come with being a 12-year-old boy. But not all is bad in the world of young Barron, who spends most of his life well away from the spotlight. The soccer fan got to mingle with D.C. United player Wayne Rooney and his wife, Coleen, at the White House Christmas party, where he took photos alongside Rooney and two of his sons.

“Coleen and Wayne were stunned when they received a personal invite from Donald inviting them to the White House,” a source told The Sun. “It wasn’t political. For them, this was a chance to go inside one of the most iconic buildings in the world and give their children this experience of being there for the Christmas party, which is always spectacular. They were also given a guided tour of President Trump’s private rooms, but the Oval Office was off-limits.”

According to The Sun’s “insider,” the couple was invited by the Trump family, in part because of Barron’s love for the D.C. soccer team.

It was undoubtedly a good day for the Trump son, who recently became a debated topic on Twitter after New York magazine’s Jonathan Chait tweeted a joke about him.

“My darkhorse chief of staff pick: Barron Trump,” he wrote. “1. Looks like Trump 2. Will not make Trump work 3. Cannot be tried as an adult.”

Former First Child Chelsea Clinton chimed in, replying to Chait, “Please leave Barron Trump out of ‘jokes’ & analyses. He’s a kid and private citizen and deserves to be left alone. Thank you.”

No word on if Barron Trump found the joke funny or appreciated Clinton coming to his defense, or if he was too busy being a 12-year-old playing soccer to even be aware that Twitter was talking about him at all.
