Renowned visual artist George Condo, who studied art history and music theory at UMass Lowell in the late 1970s (while his longtime professor father, Pasquale, taught math across campus), has exhibited his work all over the world.

From the Tate Modern in London, to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, to the album sleeves of artists like Kanye West, Phish and Travis Scott — Condo’s paintings, drawings and sculptures are in high demand. In June 2020, his “Antipodal Reunion” set a record as the most expensive painting Sotheby’s had ever sold online, at $1.3 million.

This fall and winter, two major exhibits of his work were staged, a sweeping retrospective at Shanghai’s Long Museum West Bund and a show at Hauser & Wirth in London.
