Vision

Yeongwol actively performs its role as a lifelong learning city through providing all residents with opportunities for lifelong learning, from basic education to higher education. The municipality is continuously expanding and developing into a lifelong learning city that provides systematic lifelong learning to improve the quality of life of residents.

Sustainability and health
Yeongwol engages in efforts to promote sustainable development through learning activities. This is done in order to reduce the negative impact of economic and other human activities on the natural environment, and to protect the natural environment and improve living conditions in the city.
Equity and inclusion
Yeongwol supports programmes to expand childcare and educational opportunities for young children. It guarantees opportunities for regular education from elementary education to higher education and operates and supports after- school programmes. Yeongwol is working with local universities to expand opportunities for and participation in adult education and technical vocational education and training.
Decent work and entrepreneurship
Yeongwol provides financial and administrative support so that public and private organizations can co-operate in learning activities. Employers and unions are actively promoting and encouraging workplace learning. By forming the Special Project Promotion Division, Yeongwol is working hard to create a cooperative structure and to provide learning opportunities for young people.

Good practices

Lifelong Learning and Global Citizenship Education
As of 2020, the Yeongwol lifelong learning programme consists of 100 eup-myeon lifelong learning centre programmes, support for learning clubs, talent sharing activities, Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and vocational education programmes. Yeongwol plans to implement more in-depth Sustainable Development Goal value application plans in the future.
