• The Favourite's Nicholas Hoult just arrived at the Oscars with his co-star Joe Alwyn. They both chose to wear slight variations on the traditional tuxedo for tonight's event.
  • The film leads the pack in terms of nominations; it's up for ten awards at this evening's event.

Nicholas Hoult's character Robert Harley in the Oscar-nominated film The Favourite preferred powdered wigs and elaborate makeup, but for tonight's award show, the actor chose something a bit more subdued.

Hoult arrived on the red carpet wearing an all-black look by Dior, including a striking jacket which featured decorative pleats. For his part, Joe Alwyn opted for what appears to be a velvet tuxedo jacket designed by Tom Ford. See the duo posing below:

While neither Hoult nor Alwyn are individually nominated at this year's Academy Awards, their film scored 10 nods, including nominations for best picture, as well as production and costume design, film editing, cinematography, and original screenplay.

The film's director Yorgos Lanthimos was also nominated for his craft, and both Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz were nominated for best supporting actress.

Olivia Colman, who plays Queen Anne in the film was nominated for best lead actress, and has been something of a "favourite" herself in the lead up to tonight's awards, given that she already took home the Golden Globe and the BAFTA for her role earlier this year.

That said, she's in a tough category tonight, up against Yalitza Aparicio (Roma), Glenn Close (The Wife), Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born), and Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?).
