The actress Mireille Darc achieved almost iconic status in France in a single scene in the 1972 comedy The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe when she greets the film’s hapless hero at her apartment, wearing an elegant black evening gown before turning round to reveal that the dress is backless and nearly bottomless as well.
The film — and that particular scene — proved so popular that Darc and the film’s director, Yves Robert, revisited it in a sequel, The Return of the Tall Blond Man, in 1974.
