Nelly Furtado reveals she split from husband and admits she had a breakdown

NELLY Furtado has secretly split from her husband of nine years and claims she is now ready to date someone new.

Appearing on Loose Women to promote latest album, The Ride, Nelly revealed that she is now single after separating from Demacio Castellon.

The Canadian-Portuguese singer revealed why she wants her Wikipedia page changed: “I’m single now. Someone needs to update my Wikipedia, it’s not helping my dating life.”

The mother-of-one stepped away from the limelight after struggling with the pressures of touring. Nelly explains: “At the height of my career, it was super exciting – but I took too much on. A mother on the road trying to maintain a relationship; I cried on stage.”

In the past few years since her last album release, Nelly has worked in a record store and she also went back to college to study play-writing.

Speaking to the Loose Women about needing to find a balance between fame and time away from the limelight, Nelly says: “Sometimes you just want to sit home and bake muffins for your daughter, clean my toilet, having a moment to yourself.”

The Maneater singer added: “It’s great to have your career take off and have those blessings, but if you don’t have that time, when you give and give you crash.”

“I need to stay emotionally and physically well for my daughter.”
