Yacht Club Games released the video game "Shovel Knight" in 2014, after a successful Kickstarter campaign. They promised a lot of extra content for people who bought into the top-tier version of the game, called "Treasure Trove".
They have mostly delivered on their promise, and we're very grateful! However, they have recently announced that the latest downloadable content for the game, entitled "Shovel Knight Showdown", will NOT be made available to people who own Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita platforms. Not even people who bought the "Treasure Trove" versions.
Owners of "Treasure Trove" on every other platform, however, are getting "Shovel Knight Showdown" for free.
We understand the limitations of the 3DS and Vita hardware which may make it more complicated to create ports of "Shovel Knight Showdown" for these systems.
However, we believe there should NOT be a 2-tier citizenship system in place within the "Shovel Knight" userbase. As per their latest publicly available financial report, almost 24% of the purchases were made by 3DS owners. This amounts to (using a rough calculation) 480.000 users who paid over $7 million and are NOT getting the same treatment as their console counterparts.
We therefore ask that Yacht Club Games provide "Treasure Trove" owners on 3DS and Vita a complimentary download code for "Shovel Knight Showdown" on the platform of their choosing.
We believe that this will enable 3DS and Vita owners of "Treasure Trove" to receive the same value and amount of content as people who own "Treasure Trove" on other platforms.
