David Caruso looked completely different as he was spotted in public for the first time in six years.

The former TV star was well known for his main role in the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation franchise, where he played Lieutenant Horatio Caine, as well as Detective John Kelly on the ABC crime drama NYPD Blue. In 1994, David won a Golden Globe for his work as Detective John Kelly on NYPD Blue.

David was last photographed in June 2017 when he and his youngest kids, Marquez, 18, and Paloma, 16, were spotted departing on a flight at LAX. The retired actor, who hasn't been seen on TV since 2012, was seen outside his San Fernando Valley, Calif., home last month with an unknown female friend before running errands.

He kept his outfit casual by wearing a blue hoodie over a green T-shirt and a pair of khaki pants. His chin-length hair was parted down the middle and, despite his age, kept his bright color.

David played Horatio Caine in CSI Miami for over 200 episodes. The show was canceled after 10 seasons in 2021, and the actor has yet to make another TV or film appearance. In 2002, he spoke about the show's reception among audiences.

He told CNN at the time: “You know, I think it’s an easy trap to fall into if you get hooked by it. But the good news is in today’s world of so many options in entertainment, if you’re getting some attention, that’s a positive thing.

“Being a part of the ‘CSI’ family was so effortless for all of us, it would be great if we could do the show for a while. I’d be very comfortable doing this," he added.

Following his retirement, he entered the art business and opened a gallery in Los Angeles’ Westlake Village. David's rare sighting comes shortly after his former co-star Evan Ellingson was found dead on November 5 in California according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

A spokesman for the department told E! News that Evan's death was ruled an accident with the cause of death being an accidental overdose of fentanyl. Evan starred alongside Cameron Diaz and Abigal Breslin in the 2009 movie My Sister's Keeper based on the book of the same name. He played Cameron's son and Abigal's brother, Jesse Fitzgerald.

The former child actor had struggled with drug addiction and was living at a sober living house, where his body was found. Evan's family said he was three years sober before recently relapsing after a medical procedure.

"He was passionate about pointing individuals to resources for help and only recently relapsed after being prescribed opioids following a dental procedure," his family said in a statement to NBC, "In the end, he fell in his earthly battle with addiction."
