Bella Hadid is the latest celeb to join #TeamTelfar. On July 2, the supermodel was spotted in the streets of New York City sporting the small orange version of the brand's now iconic shopping Bag, playfully dubbed as the “Bushwick Birkin.”
According to British Vogue, this Telfar purchase is just one of her many "quarantine" buys from Bella and, before wearing it out, she even gave the sought-out accessory a hard-earned shout-out on one of her recent Instagram Stories, writing, “This baby has been connected to me by the hip, [I’m] in Luv."
Telfar Clemens, the NYC-based designer behind the now infamous Gen Z It bag, launched his unisex line in 2005 while still in college at Pace University. His staple shopping bags were first introduced during Telfar's fall/winter 2014 show. While simple in its design, a boxy bag inspired by the Bloomingdale's shopping bag (hence the name) with two shoulder straps and two straps for the handle, Telfar's bag resonates with many not only for its sleek design but because of how accessible it is.
After winning the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award, Telfar began investing in different iterations of the bag — the latest drop was a gold version that sold out within 15 minutes. Bella Hadid's lil' baby orange version was paired with a tried-and-true midriff-baring white top and graphic loose-fit pants. While most tiny bags can be deemed cute but impractical, the Telfar small shopping bags are perfectly sized to fit an iPhone, a wallet, your keys, some lipstick, and then some — seriously, they do hold so much. But there is one catch.
Seeing they are affordable luxury and sleek, Telfar's shopping bags usually sell out in minutes, and restocks, though somewhat frequent, are hard to plan. It's unclear when exactly a restock will come, but when it finally does, you can be sure everyone is going to want to get their hands on one!
