The podcast comes in the wake of King Charles III’s Coronation at Westminster Abbey, to which the duchess was not invited. Speaking on Loose Women before the ceremony, she said, ‘remember I am divorced from him [Prince Andrew] so I don’t expect... you can’t have it both ways, you can’t be divorced and then say: “I want this…” [You’re in] or you’re out.’ Sarah, Duchess of York was married to Prince Andrew for 10 years, divorcing him in 1996, though the two continue living together in a residence on the Berkshire estate, Royal Lodge.

Despite not being invited to the historic Coronation ceremony, the duchess was invited to the Coronation Concert which took place the following day. Posting a picture with her two daughters, Princess Eugenie, 33, and Princess Beatrice, 34, she said, ‘I felt so lucky to have been invited and included in what was a mesmeric concert, and magical performances’.

Earlier this year, the duchess made a series of guest appearances on various podcasts to promote her new book, A Most Intriguing Lady. Speaking on Alan Carr’s podcast Life’s a Beach, she opened up about her affection for the late Queen Elizabeth II, saying: ‘If you ask me about what I’d be doing with the Queen right now, I’d be walking, looking at primroses and snowdrops, and telling her about the magnolia tree’. On Rylan Clark’s BBC Radio 2 show, she revealed that the Queen’s corgis, who she adopted after the monarch’s death, have stopped grieving for their late owner. She said the two corgis are now ‘really happy’ and that ‘their tails have gone up now so I think they’re over their grief.’ Giving an insight into their pampered lifestyle, she added they sleep in ‘royal dog beds at night with crowns on them.’

The duchess is not the first member of the Royal Family to start her own podcast. Last year the Duchess of Sussex released 10 episodes of Archetypes in which she spoke to A-list friends about the stereotypes that women face. In 2019, Princess Eugenie announced that she would co-host a new series with her best friend Julia De Boinville for her charity, The Anti-Slavery Collective. Meanwhile, Mike Tindall regularly talks about being a royal on his podcast The Good, the Bad and the Rugby.
