Two temporary classroom buildings are set to be installed at a city school - while new permanent facilities are constructed. Temporary permission is being sought for two single-storey modular buildings at The Co-Operative Academy in Tunstall for 18 months.
A design and access statement submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council says they will be based in an area which has played host to an outdoor gym and an 'unused grassed area' at the Westport Road school. The report states: "The proposed Portakabin buildings will be used to temporary classrooms while building works are completed by the council.
"At the end of the planning permission, the school should have two additional classrooms in their current building, plus a three storey extension to take the additional students.

"The proposed Ultima Portakabin buildings will be installed in an area used as an outdoor gym and an unused grassed area. The outdoor gym is rarely used so the equipment will be removed, put in storage and re-installed when temporary buildings are removed."
