‘Resident Evil 7: Biohazard’ and vampires in ‘Sims 4’(!) lead this week’s new games

New video games out this week:

“Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.” After several installments that seemed to go way off the rails, Capcom appears to be reining in its long-running survival horror series by limiting it to one location and giving it a first-person perspective, the first in a main “Resident Evil” game. Will it be more “Silent Hills” spooky than recent over-the-top-gross “Resident Evil?” We’ll see, but one exciting change is that for PlayStation 4 owners there’s a VR mode if you have the necessary headgear. Rated M for Mature. $60, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

“The Sims 4: Vampires.” If the only thing keeping you from playing “Sims 4” all these years was that there was no expansion pack featuring bloodthirsty creatures of the night, this is a lucky week for you! They’ve got supernatural powers, immortal life and customizable “Dark Forms. Will you choose to drink from other Sims or eat something called a “Plasmafruit?” You know what? I’m out. You go have fun playing this game without me. Rated T for Teen. $20, downloadable for PC, requires a copy of “The Sims 4.”
