Art World Fernando Botero Paints Abu Ghraib
In a series of 50 paintings, renowned Colombian painter Fernando Botero depicts his famous voluptuous figures against the backdrop of Abu Ghraib prison abuses in Iraq. The works are currently being shown in Paris and will soon travel to Rome and Berlin.

Though Botero's paintings slightly resemble Old Masters, what they depict is thoroughly contemporary.

This painting seems to be modeled after the famous Abu Ghraib image of a hooded man with his arms biblically spread out as if nailed to the cross.
