Pomacanthus paru

French angelfish

Distribution: western Atlantic, from Florida and Bermuda to Brazil. The most common angelfish species in the Caribbean, easy to spot for example in Aruba, Guadeloupe, Roatan, the Mayan Riviera and the Atlantic coast of Panama.

As most of angelfish species, Pomacanthus paru go through dramatic aspect changes with growth, and the juveniles are colored very differently from the adults.

Sometimes confused with Pomacanthus arcuatus.
