2. ยซ Tiny plastic,
big problem ยป
Scientists find that tiny pieces of plastic travel great
distances threatening the ocean ecosystem
The problem with plastics is
they do not easily degrade.
They may break down, but
only into smaller pieces. The
smaller those pieces get, the
more places they can go.
ยซ Sea turtles are eating
ocean plastic because it
smells like food, study
finds ยป
โข Across the world, sea turtles are swallowing bits of
plastic in the ocean and often dying as a result.
โข New research shows that sea turtles mistake the
scent of plastic for food. Ingesting just over a dozen
pieces of plastic can kill turtles.
โข Scientists estimate that over half of the worldโs sea
turtles and nearly every seabird have ingested plastic.

3. ยซ Ocean cleanup device successfully collects
plastic for first time ยป
A huge floating device designed by Dutch scientists to
clean up an island of rubbish in the Pacific Ocean that is
three times the size of France has successfully picked up

4. ยซ Boat made of recycled plastic and flip-
flops inspires fight for cleaner seas along
African coast ยป
After completing a historic 500km journey from the Kenyan island of
Lamu to the Tanzanian island of Zanzibar, the worldโs first ever
traditional โdhowโ sailing boat made entirely from recycled plastic,
known as the Flipflopi, has successfully raised awareness of the need
to overcome one of the worldโs biggest environmental challenges:
plastic pollution.

5. ยซ When the Ocean Gives You Plastic, Make
Animalsยป

creates sculptures of animals whose health is endangered by the trash they
are made of.

6. The goal : to conserve and sustainably use the
worldโs oceans, seas and marine resources
The oceans are very important for human life:
โข More than 3 billion people depend on marine and coastal diversity for their livelihoods;
โข Oceans absorb about 30 percent of the carbon dioxide that humans produce;
โข Healthy oceans mitigate climate change ;
โข They are great places for tourism;
โข Marine protected Areas help the reduction of poverty;
โข They improve gender equality
but we are
producing more
carbon dioxide
than ever before
and that makes
the oceans more
acidic.Women do a lot of work
at small-scale fisheries
The problems with the oceans
have an environmental and
economic impact
Oceans are also
home to a variety of
beautiful creatures
There is a very big problem
that is the POLLUTION linked
with the irresponsibility of
humans who donโt understand
how important his our earth!
7. What can we do?
As we can
see in the
articles above
there are both
positive and
negative
things
There are a lot of
positive project of
people who want
to help the
oceans and their
lives
And also our
lives
There are also a lot of
negative news that regard
the pollution. It kills a lot
of animals and is very
negative for all us.
8. Our Earth and our oceans need
all our commitment and our
responsibility!
WE CAN MAKE THE
DIFFERENCE NOW!
