Lamin A/C Antibody (636) is an IgG2b κ mouse monoclonal Lamin A/C antibody that detects Lamin A and Lamin C of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and FCM. Lamin A/C Antibody (636) is available as both conjugated and non-conjugated anti-Lamin A/C antibody forms. A unique family of cysteine proteases has been described that differs in sequence, structure and substrate specificity from any previously described protease family. This family, termed Ced-3/ICE, is comprised of ICE, CPP32, ICH-1/Nedd-2, Tx, Mch2, Mch3 (ICE-LAP3 or CMH-1), Mch4 and ICE-LAP6. Ced-3/ICE family members function as key components of the apoptotic machinery and act to destroy specific target proteins which are critical to cellular longevity. Nuclear lamins are critical to maintaining the integrity of the nuclear envelope and cellular morphology. The nuclear Lamin A is cleaved by Mch2, but not CPP32. Nuclear Lamin B is fragmented as a consequence of apoptosis by an unidentified member of the ICE family. Lamin C is a splice variant of Lamin A, differing only at the carboxy-terminus. Lamins A and C are identical for the first 566 amino acids, with Lamin C differing only in six unique carboxy-terminal amino acids.

Hello, does this antibody recognise N-terminal or C-terminal part of the protein? Best wishes

Asked by: npnp22
Thank you for your question. No epitope mapping has been performed for this antibody as of yet, so its binding site is not known at this point.

What is the difference in specificity and efficacy or advantage/disadvantage of this product (sc-7292) compared to the Anti-Lamin A/C Antibody (E-1): sc-376248?

Asked by: missy
Thank you for your question. Anti-Lamin A/C Antibody (636) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b κ recommended for detection of Lamin A and Lamin C of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and FCM. Anti-Lamin A/C Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 κ recommended for detection of Lamin A and Lamin C of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and ELISA; also reactive with additional species, including and equine, canine, bovine and porcine. If you are intending to use one or the other for detection of Lamin A and C from mouse, rat, or human in WB, IP, IF, or IHC(P), either antibody would perform well and with very similar results.

I used in the past Ab sc-376248 which is no longer available. I would like to test sc-7292 to verify if it is a valid substitute.

Asked by: GigiR
Thank you for your question. Our website was having technical issues today. sc-376248 is definitely still available and you can continue using this antibody. Please reach out to your distributor for information if you still would like to find out how to get a test sample of a different antibody.
