Power Slap 6: KO Chris vs Muniz Results

Marron returned with his own right handed strike on three and he landed right on the money with a resounding slap, but the strike didn’t move Trujillo an inch. He smiled and nodded with approval taking back the control. Marron would never get another chance as Trujillo used his first strike to soften up Marron and close the show with his second.

Trujillo’s second strike was a knockout and extended his record to 4-1 in Power Slap, with four-straight knockouts. As the lightweight division continues to add competitors it’s clear that “The Real Deal” is going to be right at the top of the food chain.

Branden Bordeaux and Eddie Brahimir compete to a majority draw (28-28, 28-28, 28-27)

Eddie Brahimir won the coin toss and started the rematch from Road To The Title season two off with a clean slap, but just like in their match on the show Branden Bordeaux ate the strike clean. He let out a massive yell and let Brahimir know that the Canadian striker wasn’t going to even their score. Bordeaux landed a clean strike on his first attempt but it didn’t have any effect and seemed to have a little less power than the first hit from Brahimir.

Brahimir’s second strike was nearly identical to the first and had a good smack sound to it. Bordeaux ate it and unfortunately for “The Butcher” he clubbed on his return strike – losing a point. Brahimir’s third strike was a great one and it knocked the ear plug out of Bordeaux’s right ear. With Bordeaux’s final strike he went right on three. It was easily his best strike of the match and buckled Brahimir’s knees.

Throughout the match it was Brahimir with the cleaner and more powerful strikes, but Bordeaux’s strong third round made up significant ground on the judges’ scorecards despite losing a point for clubbing in the second round.

The bout was ruled a majority draw (28-28, 28-28, 28-27) putting the series between him and Bordeaux at one for Bordeaux and a draw. Brahimir moves to 1-1-1 while Bordeaux goes to 2-0-1.

Cole Young (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) defeats Zach Zane by Unanimous Decision

Cole Young went first and he landed clean, but Zach Zane showcased the toughness that made him tough to beat on Road To The Title season two and ate the strike. Young flinched on Zane’s first strike and it was clear that it made a difference because Zane’s strike was a big one, but Young ate the strike well and decided to go chat with Bert Kreischer after the strike.

Young’s second strike was much better than his first and sent Zane back a few steps. “Dub Z” landed another very good strike, but it’s clear that both Young and Zane bring top-level toughness to the striker’s podium. Young’s third strike was his worst of the round and Zane waved at him after the strike. Zane slapped the ear piece out of Young on his third strike but “Full Send” didn’t move at all. Good back-and-forth match that went to the judges’ scorecards.

It was a close match but Young got the win (30-27, 30-27, 29-28), pushing his record to 2-2-1 and reestablishing himself as a welterweight contender. Zane dropped to 2-1 with the loss.

Duane Crespo (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) defeats Logan Greenhalgh by Unanimous Decision

In a battle of Road To The Title season one vs Road To The Title season two, Duane Crespo and Logan Greenhalgh went to battle. Greenhalgh won the coin toss and landed clean with his first strike but it didn’t draw much of a reaction from the veteran Crespo. The No. 2 ranked heavyweight returned with a powerful strike that definitely hurt Greenhalgh. The chin on Greenhalgh was impressive, as many have fallen from a strike like that from Crespo.

Greenhalgh’s second strike was right on the target of his first strike but once again, Crespo ate the strike without an issue. “The Iron Giant” went next, and with his trademark power wind-up, he let out a yell as he connected with the strike. He stomped around the stage letting the crowd know that he was in full-control of the match. Greenhalgh recovered and delivered his best strike of the match when it mattered most. The strike buckled Crespo for just a second, but didn’t put him down and out. Crespo’s final strike might have been his least effective of the night and Greenhalgh let the crowd know it.

The judges scored the bout (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) in favor of Crespo, who defends his No. 2 rankings and moves to 5-2 while Greenhalgh, although valiant drops to 2-2.

Vern Cathey defeated Delvin Hamlett by KO in Round 2

Delvin Hamlett won the coin toss and elected to strike first against the Power Slap veteran Vern Cathey. Hamlett elected to strike with his right on the second measure, the strike and it didn’t effect Cathey at all. “The Mechanic” was pumped and returned with a right-handed strike of his own that barely connected with Hamlett’s face.

Hamlett added a measure in the second round and he connected with a more powerful strike, but it failed to do much damage to Cathey. The former lightweight heavyweight contender bounced-back from his poor first strike in a big way, knocking Hamlett out. The strike connected and Hamlett immediately fell forward into the striker’s podium and after a few seconds he fell backwards to the stage floor. That was all she wrote.

Huge win for Cathey, who needed it in a big way. He moves to 4-3 with the win. Hamlett drops to 1-2.

TJ Thomas defeats Garrett Blakesslee due to Doctor’s Stoppage in Round 1

TJ Thomas won the coin toss and elected to strike with his right on the third measure, it was one heck of a strike that dropped Garrett Blakesslee. The Road To The Title season two contestant recovered after some wobbling and was able to return fire in a big way. He connected and Thomas was barely able to keep his feet. Unfortunately for Blakesslee he clubbed and lost a point on the strike. Thomas was struggling to recover and the doctor decided that Thomas wasn’t fit to continue.

Thomas won the bout due to disqualification that stemmed from Blakesslee’s foul. He moves to 2-0, while “Flaco” drops to 2-1.

Wesley Drain (28-27, 28-27, 28-27) defeats Garrett Grimes by Unanimous Decision

In a battle of the ranked middleweight, Drain won the coin toss and landed the first strike. It was a good strike that elicited a decent reaction from Garrett Grimes. He returned with a good strike of his own that lifted Drain’s right side off the stage floor.

The second round started off with a clubbing foul committed by Drain, docking him a point. Grimes landed his second strike and Drain stuck his tongue out to taunt Grimes right away. Knowing that he was down a point Drain landed the best strike of the match that pushed Grimes back about eight paces all the way back to his coach Austin Turpin. He found his footing and recovered before the ten count. Grimes got back at Drain with his best strike of the night that clearly hurt Drain, but the former title challenger stood his ground. This one went to the scorecards and it was a close match that showed the toughness of both contenders.

The judges scored the bout (28-27, 28-27, 28-27) all in favor of Drain, putting him right back in the mix for a shot at the middleweight title (5-4). Grimes falls to 2-1.

Makini Manu defeats Danie van Heerden due to Illegal Strikes in Round 2

The South African won the coin toss and elected to strike first, van Heerden’s first strike was a good one but didn’t get him much more than a head nod from Makini Manu. The former NFL player lined up at the striker’s podium and was slightly off target with his strike and it resulted in a clubbing foul and a lost point for “Big Mak”.

Van Heerden slapped through his second strike so much so that he almost went to the floor. He knocked Manu’s ear piece out and was called for a clubbing foul. One clubbing foul a piece and the match was back to being even if Manu could land a clean strike. Manu was bleeding out of his nose after the strike and after a few minutes of trying to get the bleeding to stop the doctor decided to call an end to the match.

Manu was declared the winner by disqualification due to Illegal Strikes improving to 3-0, while van Heerden dropped to 2-1 in Power Slap competition.

Ryan Phillips defeats Nate Burnard by TKO in Round 2

Nate Burnard, the former Buffalo Bills security guard won the coin toss and elected to strike first. He missed with the strike and was called for a clubbing strike costing him a point. Ryan Phillips, “The King Of Kings” returned fire with his own strike that landed perfect – right on the button. It dropped Burnard to the floor and he did everything he could to recover before the ten count and he managed to do just that. At the end of his recovery period a time out was called and the referees spotted a stepping foul committed by Phillips. He lifted his plant foot on his striking side and was docked a point.

Burnard chose to continue and his second strike was clean right across the chin, but the big talking Philips ate the strike with ease. Phillips’ second strike was a beauty that put “The Buffalo Soldier” straight to the ground. It was an excellent knockout that shows that Phillips has the game to back up his relentless trash talk.

Phillips goes to 2-2 and puts himself in a great spot to compete for Damien “The Bell” Dibbell’s heavyweight title his next time out. Burnard falls to 2-2.

Brian Ellis defeats Dorian Perez by Disqualification due to Offensive Fouls

The first strike can be an important moment in any match, and when Brian Ellis landed his first strike it was important but not in the way he expected. Dorian Perez ate the strike and literally threw slap stick back at his face. Perez returned with clean strike that almost took Ellis off his feet but the Road To The Title season two contestant stayed put in the strike’s box.

Ellis’ second strike was much better than his first and he landed clean and at got a reaction out of Perez. The long time heavyweight contender clubbed on his next strike – putting the match likely even heading into the final frame. “The Predator” responded with his best strike of the match but it didn’t do much besides prompt Perez to break out into a groovy little dance. Perez completely missed mark on his final strike – connecting with Ellis’ nose on the swing. He was also called for a clubbing foul.

Two clubbing fouls resulted in a disqualification due to offensive fouls for Perez, pushing Ellis to 2-1 and making Perez fall to 5-2 with the loss.

Sheena Bathory defeats Jackie Cataline by Disqualification due to Clubbing

Jackie Cataline just caused high-drama in the Power Slap world. Cataline won the coin toss and knocked out Sheena Bathory in one strike, but what seemed like a a picture perfect moment for the Power Slap newcomer, turned out to be a heartbreaking loss as Cataline clubbed Bathory with the strike. What was ironic about the strike was that Bathory was grinning as Cataline measure and then she was out cold the second the strike connect.

Absolutely wild moment as all of Durango Casino & Resort lost their minds. Bathory moves to 3-0 with the win while Cataline drops to 0-1. But by no means was this a negative debut for Cataline. She proved that she has a spot in this sport and for the first time, “The Hungarian Hurricane” didn’t look unbeatable.

Manny Muniz defeats Christapher Thomas by KO in Round 5

The challenger won the coin toss in the welterweight title match and after months of anticipation the two Road To The Title coaches finally were at the striker’s podium. Manny Muniz landed a nice clean strike with is first strike that got a nice reaction from the champion but Christapher Thomas recovered quickly. The champ’s first strike was a clean one that didn’t make the biggest sound but it clearly effected Muniz.

Round two started off with Muniz going right on one and while he connected, Thomas flinched. With his second strike Muniz changed it up and went right on three. The redo was a great strike that hurt KO Chris in a big way. It took a second for Thomas to recover but he was back to being fired up and yelling in Muniz’s face and showboating for the crowd. After a lengthy time before his strike, KO Chris clipped Muniz and some bleeding started from Muniz’s lip.

A timeout briefly halted the third strike of Muniz after KO Chris was moving prior to the strike. Then Muniz blasted him! It was as the absolutely picture perfect slap. It had the sound and the reaction and everything you could want from a slalp. Yet, KO Chris recovered. Likely down three rounds, the champion dropped Muniz with a massive strike but he was called for a clubbing foul and lost a point.

Muniz took the full-time to recover before stepping to the striker’s podium for his fourth strike. It was a hard strike that stumbled KO Chris as he leaned on the podium but he somehow someway, he recovered. KO Chris delivered his worst strike of the match in the fourth. It was off target and wasn’t a hard slap, but it certainly was a club and that was KO Chris’ second clubbing foul of the match, costing him another point.

The challenger, up four rounds, totally slept KO Chris! The Manny “No Love” Muniz is the new Power Slap welterweight champion! It was a dominant performance from start to finish for Muniz and showcased every bit of his game. The kid is a star and the division now runs through him.
