Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD assets 'sitting on a computer somewhere'

Konami would "absolutely" consider making an upgraded console version of Nintendo 3DS title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate, as HD assets for the game already exist, the company revealed in a recent interview with CVG.

According to Konami UK's studio head Dave Cox, high-definition assets for a console version of Mirror Of Fate currently reside with developer MercurySteam. A port could be under consideration if the game finds success on the 3DS.

"We created everything in high definition — all the textures, all the levels, high-poly models, everything — and we kind of shrunk it all down into the 3DS," Cox said. "Then we lost bones from characters, you know, we dropped the resolution of the textures and everything to make it fit. At MercurySteam we have an HD version of the game sitting there in a computer somewhere."

"We want as many people to play it as possible," he added. "Obviously we have an exclusivity deal with Nintendo right now though and they've been very supportive of the product."

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate will be released on March 5 for 3DS; the events in Mirror of Fate will set up the story for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, set to release this year on for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

Porting Mirror of Fate would not be the first time a 3DS title has been ported to consoles. Earlier this month, Capcom announced it would bring Resident Evil: Revelations, originally published to 3DS early last year, to consoles.
