Maschinen Krieger A.F.S. MK. I Gallery
10 years ago today, December the 6th 2010 - this was the first gallery I shared on Facebook. How time has flown by! Before that, I had shared photos to a blog, Scale120 dot com. Sadly I could not maintain that blog at the time but now with more technical competence I can bring much of the content back for you alongside the new stuff I am making. Best of both worlds I guess?
I posted this right after we finish “Showcase 6”, also known as the Ma.K “Off Kai” or a type of 展示会 or “Exhibition”. They are never called competitions as they are a way for the community to gather and share our works in a spirit of camaraderie and friendship and are really wonderful events.
Here is the write up from the time;
“The lull after Showcase 6 and before the arrival of WAVE Raptor kits – I didn’t want to crack open something new and add another dust collector to the shelf so looked around for something to finish off. This one was easy, I had completed and painted it Out of the Box for a “Model in a Month” Group Build on the excellent Maschinen Krueger forum and as per the guidelines, hadn’t made any modifications which on these kits for me is to add the additional cables. The cables are 0.8mm craft wire, thin metal inside with plastic/vinyl covering and then weathered with Vallejo acrylic paints, some Vallejo Air flat varnish mixed with some pigments. A couple of touch ups here and there and it’s read to be put on a simple base with the first AFS Mk.I I made when they first came out in… 2009 I think? Oh yes, some words on the finish… It’s done with a handful of sandy colored Mr. Color and Gaia Notes lacquer paints, all done by hand. I used by green and red tinged colors to complement and contrast one another on areas of interest. I think that really means by artistic whim because I don’t know any science to it. Weathering was a mixed bag as I wanted to try a number of things out, so oils+enamels+acrylics+pigments and never forgetting my fingerprints of course. Face is done in Vallejo and Citadel acrylics. “

Sadly I do not have tutorials available for this project but I am sure you could figure it out after studying my new tutorials.
