Grainger, Brendan Gregory of Lakewood, CO formerly of Florissant, MO died unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. He was born in 1975 to Robert and Kathleen Grainger and was an agent of the Internal Revenue Service both in Denver and San Francisco. Brendan, 34, a graduate of the University of Kansas in accounting and business administration, was preceded in death by his mother: Kathleen Mavourneen Grainger (nee Harris). He is survived by his father: Robert and wife, Therese of Phippsburg, ME; brothers, Matthew of Kansas City, MO and Andrew and wife, Beth of Columbus, OH; sisters, Maureen and Kathryn of Denver; aunts, Eleanor (Sr.

Consuelo) and Patricia Lotker and husband, Steve; uncles, William Grainger and Tom Harris and wife, Joanne; niece and nephew, Elise and Evan Grainger and cousins. Ruth Chandler, Elaine Dudevoir, Mark Lozier, Carol Coverdale, John Lozier, and David Lozier. Brendan was an avid sports fan and was looking forward to visiting Phippsburg, Maine this week, attending a Boston Red Sox game, and cooking lobster near the beach. He will be dearly missed. Died July 21, 2009. Mary Elizabeth Read Holt of Elsah Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2009 at her home in Leland, Michigan. Since 1945, she spent summers in the town she loved so much. Betsy Holt was the wife of Henry Holt, Jr. Betsy Holt was born and raised in St.

Louis, Missouri and attended Principia from kindergarten through four years of college. She and her husband remained devoted and involved with Principia throughout their lives with Henry serving as it Chairman and Chief Executive for twenty years while the couple lived in St. Louis. Betsy and Henry were married in 1942 and at the conclusion of World War II they moved to New York City for two years before settling in Indianapolis Indiana and raising their family. While in Indianapolis, Betsy participated in many civic and educational organizations including: The Children's Day Nursery, Weekday Religious Education in the Public Schools, Orchard School, the Symphony Guild, and the Children's Museum.

Betsy participated at a high level in sports during high school and college and was selected for the U.S. Olympic Field Hockey Team but was unable to compete because the Games were cancelled during World War II. She also taught swimming after college. Later in life she became an accomplished gardener. While Betsy was active outside her home, principally she was a most devoted, loving, and gracious wife, mother, and grandmother.

She loved very much her family: Hank and Lyn MacDonald Holt, Elizabeth and Margaret Holt, Eron Earley-Thiele, Molly Holt, Carol and Mark Vittert, Leland and Liberty Vittert, and nephews Jim and Jeff Lockwood and their families. Services: No funeral or service arrangements have been announced and the family requests any donations on behalf of Betsy Holt be made to Principia in St. Louis, MO or to another charity of choice.
