Appearance: Penngift Crownvetch is a trailing or climbing plant that forms dense mats of foliage. It has compound leaves with numerous small leaflets, giving it a feathery appearance. The leaflets are gray-green in color and have a silky texture. The plant produces numerous small, pink to white pea-like flowers that are arranged in dense clusters at the tips of the stems.

Growth Habit: Crownvetch is a vigorous and fast-growing plant that spreads by trailing stems that root at the nodes, allowing it to form a dense ground cover. It can reach a height of up to 30 centimeters (12 inches) and spread several meters wide.

Soil and Growing Conditions: Crownvetch is adaptable to a range of soil types but prefers well-drained soils. It can tolerate poor, rocky, or sandy soils and is often used for erosion control on slopes, banks, and road embankments. It is also tolerant of drought conditions once established. It grows best in full sun but can tolerate some shade.
