Wow! Is China's 46-series large cylindrical battery so powerful?! Meet #46950-EVE's Cost-Effective Power Battery Solution

On April 18, 2023, the 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (referred to as the #Shanghai Auto Show) opened grandly at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). As one of the most influential automotive events in the world, this auto show has attracted many well-known domestic and foreign automotive brands and component companies to participate, jointly showcasing the latest technological achievements and market trends.

In the field of new energy vehicles, power batteries, as one of the core components, have received much attention. At this auto show, five domestic lithium battery companies - CALB, SVOLT, EVE Energy, and Sunwoda - all brought independently developed 46950 large cylindrical lithium iron phosphate battery products and reached cooperation intentions or signed cooperation agreements with many vehicle manufacturers, demonstrating the technical strength and market competitiveness of China's lithium battery industry in high specific energy, high safety, high efficiency, and other aspects.

In addition, as the first vehicle in China to use the 46-series large cylindrical battery for battery pack monomers, the Yiwei 3 exhibited by JAC Automobile also firmly caught the attention of the on-site audience.

#46950 #Large #Cylindrical #Battery: A High #Cost-Effective Power Battery Solution

The 46950 large cylindrical battery refers to a cylindrical lithium-ion battery with a diameter of 46 millimeters and a length of 95.0 millimeters. The battery uses lithium iron phosphate material as the positive electrode, which has the advantages of high safety, high cycle life, and low cost. At the same time, due to its large volume and capacity, it can reduce the number of required battery cells and connectors in the battery pack, thereby improving space utilization and system efficiency, and reducing system weight and cost. It is worth noting that the large cylindrical battery was first proposed by Tesla at a press conference in September 2020, but Tesla's large cylindrical battery has a length specification of 80 millimeters. Tesla stated that compared to the currently used 2170 battery, this battery model has increased energy density by 5 times, power density by 6 times, and range by 16%. Tesla plans to achieve mass production of the 4680 battery in the next few years and apply it to multiple models under its brand. In addition, Tesla also stated that it will cooperate with other battery suppliers to jointly promote the industrialization of the 4680 battery.

Influenced by #Tesla, many domestic lithium battery companies have also begun to accelerate the layout of the 46950 large cylindrical battery. In addition to CALB, Honeycomb Energy, #EVEEnergy, and Sunwoda, who participated in this exhibition, Zeng Yuqun, Chairman of CATL, stated that compared to competitors, CATL's large cylindrical battery has a cycle life of more than three times that of domestic and foreign competitors, and its energy density is more than 10% higher than that of competitors. In addition, well-known domestic lithium battery companies such as BAK Battery, Gotion High-Tech, and RETP have not fallen behind in the development of the 46950 large cylindrical battery.

At this auto show, four domestic lithium battery companies showcased their respective technological advantages and innovative achievements in the battery field.

EVE Energy exhibited two types of cylindrical batteries, 46950 and 46110. According to information learned by a #ICCSINO reporter on-site, EVE Energy's 46-series batteries have been produced in small batches at the Jinmen factory and will be mass-produced and delivered in the third quarter of this year. This series of batteries uses a high-nickel ternary + silicon-doped negative electrode material system, with a current energy density of 280Wh/kg, and is expected to achieve a high energy density of 350Wh/kg in the future while meeting the requirement of charging from 20% to 80% in 9 minutes.

At the same time, #EVEEnergy also exhibited a 46950 BEV module solution, with an overall pressure relief design facing downwards. The module is not completely filled with glue, and the top busbar, FPC, and plastic bracket of the battery cell are bonded together. Each bracket has corresponding holes, and mica boards are placed below the brackets. According to on-site staff, although it is not completely filled with glue, this module structure has passed vibration tests. In addition, EVE Energy can also provide MTP and CTP solutions according to customer needs.
