Becoming better at talking out loud by putting your ideas into words is like anything else: if it's worth doing well, it's worth doing badly at first. Starting small and getting practice helps improvement over time. The more you practice speaking to smaller groups, the less nervous you will be. Toastmasters is a self paced program that's a positive and supportive environment where mistakes are expected and appreciated. Because making them is the best way to improve. It's much more about interpersonal communication than is it about giving a grand public speaking performance. Toastmasters members enjoy a willing audience committed to listening and get helpful feedback. More experienced, even distinguished speakers, are there to listen. And share what they've learned. They're eager to help the newbie reach new heights. The advantages of getting people to understand what your saying the way you want them to is a life transforming process.
