Lesbian Wedding at the Farmers Daughter in Kingston Rhode Island

A DANCE-tastic Summer Micro-Wedding at The Farmer’s Daughter in Kingston, RI

Two brides kissing at a LGBTQ Lesbian Summer Micro-Wedding at The Farmers Daughter in South Kingston, Rhode Island

Let the record reflect that Kiersten & Linda’s dance floor was lit as sh*t. In fact it was *SO lit* that Linda dropped it a little too low and ripped her pants. – For one, I ain’t never seen a couple dance like Kiersten and Linda, but to their credit they also hired Krissy from KDF Beats to be their DJ – who might I add is a dance teacher who literally offers twerk classes. (SIGN ME UP NOW!). Krissy kept it just the *right amount of classy* with her dance moves at the wedding, but DAMNNN that girl can read a room and get literally everyone to bust a move. My second shooter, Brian, literally danced so hard he ended up on the floor (photo evidence can be found in the gallery below), and ima be honest…we ALL stayed until the venue kicked us out.

Now “who are these LEGENDARY BRIDES?” you ask?! They are Linda, an architectural designer, and Kiersten, a writer, graphic designer, and *you guessed it* a dancer. Go figure.

Kiersten and Linda met at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI during their freshman and junior years. Linda says that she wasn’t the slightest bit interested in even being friends with Kiersten at first. (LOL) But it didn’t take Kiersten long to turn on the charm and do some convincing! They finally went on their first date about 3-months after meeting. In their over 4-years together, the couple has traveled the world (they even named each table at their wedding after a place they’ve visited!) but their favorite memory is from a trip in Cozumel, when they rented mopeds and ended the day with guacamole, drinks and had a surprise visit from both an iguana and a peacock.

Kiersten and Linda wanted their wedding to be just a big enough group that it felt like a full dance party, but not too big that you wouldn’t be able to talk to everyone. Additionally, they wanted to be surrounded by nature and feel like they were in the middle of nowhere with the people they loved moved. (AKA: An “elevated DIY Earthy-Crunchy Theme,” as they put it). As mentioned, the brides absolutely love food and travel, so of course they didn’t want to serve up a traditional meal for the reception. Linda was born in Colombia and Kiersten is a 4th generation Italian/German American who is also a vegan. So, they celebrated the mixing of their heritages at their reception with a Colombian inspired food station and a completely vegan station. (On a personal note: I’ve been thinking about their vegan nuggets since the wedding day…) For dessert, they served vegan cake and mimosas!

And, as always, all vendors and contributors are listed at the end of the blog.

Some cool facts about this DIY wedding:

(1) Kiersten designed her own wedding invites! (She’s a graphic designer!)

(2) The entire wedding party wore Dr. Martens – Kiersten’s favorite shoe brand that Linda has grown to love because of her!

(3) One of their wedding party members also acted as their “flower man,” dancing down the aisle while throwing petals to “Come and Get Your Love” from Guardians of the Galaxy (!!!)  to set the mood. (Yes! You can find photos of this below!)

(4) All of their flowers and bouquets were wooden! Which was a super cool idea for many reasons and also allowed for family members to have a special bouquet to take home at the end of the day that will last forever.

ABOVE: Serendipitously, I also wore my Dr. Martins for the day, matching the wedding party!
