Such a classic, so much fun after all those years ! And this is one of the very very few twin-stick games ! (you can use the 2nd joystick to aim optionally)

The other twin-stick game I know of being Super Obliteration. But are least two more are coming Cecconoid (Hoffman), Declan : Zero (Nivrig).

I just wish it could have being slightly improved over the ST version -- or at least if it could have been smoother on higher end Amiga. Oh well, it's great anyway !

There have been some comments here that the ST version is somehow faster. NO, it is not, unless your Amiga has DMA contention issues, or some other hardware problem.

I have several Amigas and both an expanded 520ST and a Mega ST 2, and for the most part, this plays identically on both the Amigas and the STs. It is great on both. That's pretty Amazing in itself.
It's unusual to see a game that's on both platforms where the Amiga version isn't WAY better, but this ones pretty even (even the sound is equal!)..

IMO, it is NOT over rated. It's also no more difficult than it needs to be and the hitboxes seem fine to me.
I've been playing this since the early 90s and it's still one of my favorites. I think I'm pretty good at it, but I have not mastered it in 30+ years, which is a testament to it's playability.

Since more than two weeks I'm playing this game more than ever. Everyday a few times. It can be really addicting just like the camel game (the other shareware by Jeff Minter also from 1991). I like those psychedelic shoot em ups. Also a good idea to be able to save the sheep, camels, llamas and goats that are running around to make your weapon stronger for few seconds. It's now one of 18 amiga games I play very regularly with WinUAE emulator.

I improved a lot since my last comment about this game.
edit: I can't believe I beat the game! I started the game from level 1 on (yes, no save states this time) with the droid as cpu partner.
A few minutes ago I beat the last boss the "Ozric Tentacle" (a reference on the psychedelic band Ozric Tentacles, who by the way are amongst my 3 all-time favourite bands). The boss was surprisingly easy, only the 4 ships that attack horizontally and vertically were annoying, I had to destroy them first. The boss shooted many rockets that move slowly, but they were easily destroyed. The boss took a few minutes of me constantly firing at him but it finally died soon.
Can't believe I did it as I'm normally not a very good gamer. It feels really great.

Slightly slower and less fun than the ST original. Still awesome tho. Everything Minter touches is awesome in some way or another.

Warning: this is a weird, intense psychedelic experience with possibly hilarious consequences. This was the game that introduced me to the wonderfully strange world of Jeff Minter. The game itself is a psychotropic version of Robotron and plays in a very similar way. I was a Robotron fan, so I immediately grew a likening towards Llamatron as well. The entire psychedelic experience and the amazingly well sampled sound effects heightened the experience even more. Additionally, I just can't get rid of the feeling that there is some philosophical statement behind this game or even maybe some political stance to it? Maybe it's just me...

I have to agree. It's really a pity, because it's very addictive. I think the hitboxes are too harsh sometimes, sometimes you get caught too easily by the flood of enemies. Revenge Of the mutant camels (not the one on lemonamiga, I mean the later version with the goat as a helpful partner and with better graphics), also by Jeff Minter, is perfect in case of the difficulty, also having pass words after every 5 (or so) levels.

It's a very addictive game however the difficulty bend is pretty high when you reach a few levels, for this reason the plays are short and a bit monotonous.Perfect for a casual play but not to play too long.

Blabla. It has nothing to do with "overrated" when you like a game. I like weird games. And Grid Runner, Llamatron and Revenge Of The Mutant Camels (not the game on lemonamiga, it's the version where you have a goat as a partner) are good for me.

More overated strangness from that bloke with the Llama's, its ok, nothing more nothing less, just don't overate it because Jeff Minter wrote it. Tut..tut!

This is one of the strangest shoot-em-up games I have ever played.

Yet it's also one of the greatest.

There's something really addictive about this game and I can't place my finger on it. Who knew a simple arcade game about llamas could end up being so much fun?

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it!

Simply one of the 10 best Amiga games ever IMO. Played this to _death_. The 2 ply simultaneous mode is just awesome. It's exactly like robotron, but enhanced in every respect and with sheep. The sound is insanely good and has to be cranked up. Play with a friend and enjoy Jeff Minter's best game ever. One hell of a trippy experience - the screen flashes white every time you destroy an enemy - how cool is that! Heck, you fight screaming creepy mandelbrot fractals in this one!
Comes in 512kb and 1meg versions. Use 1meg version for superior sound.
