As a game, it offers exactly the same entertainment level as ECS version but from CD32 version one should expect a little bit more. Things that were stripped down from ECS version could have return and some bonuses like enhanced introduction, enhanced sound effects, speech or at least audio tracks would have been a nice addition. Unfortunately, nothing like this can be seen here and it is a pity because it happens to be a wasted effort. The game is worth a solid 8 out 10 but this edition, in my opinion, bears nothing more than 6 out of 10.

Honestly, even as a drooling Syndicate fan I was not aware of all the promises made for the CD32 version, so when it finally came out I thought ''bah, that's the fate of CD32 ports anyway''.

I usually try not to ''assume malice when stupidity would suffice'', though I had no idea then what a pathological liar Molyneux was growing up to be. Another theory could just be that Bullfrog dropped some of the announced features so that Syndicate Wars would look like a bigger improvement. There was even a rumour back in the day, that Syndicate Wars had indeed been developed for AGA Amigas but EA wouldn't give the go-ahead for distribution due to the commercial demise of the platform.

Agree with Maff, what a wasted opportunity. Many of the developers at the time are to blame for the demise of the Amiga. The CD32 could have survived a few years if they had supported it properly.

I remember that article somewhere in a mag actually & yeah it was a BIG disappointment when it finally did arrive.

Remember how this CD32 version was delayed for years? And how Bullfrog said that this particular version would be enhanced, with nice 256 colour graphics (including the original cutscenes from the PC version), the facility to rotate the view, and the ability to see inside buildings? How this version would fix all the niggling bugs and areas for improvement, and be the best version of Syndicate ever?

Then, when it finally appeared, it was the A500 version shovelled onto a CDROM. With none of the bug fixes promised, and using none of CD32's capabilities. The *exact* same game. It somehow took them 30 months to copy four low density floppy disks onto a CD. And they lied to us the whole time.

Quite possibly the start of the backlash against Peter Molyneux with continues unabated to this day. 1/10.
