Not as good as the legendary T2 but okay enough. Very easy, in traditional Turrican style theres about 700 1ups on each stage. Got to the final boss on my first playthrough and I'm not an amazing gamer by any means.

Going in I expected a lesser game than the first two but was pleasantly surprised to find this is actually quite excellent. The difficulty curve is on par with the original Turrican which made it a better experience on the whole for me than the tougher Turrican 2. The graphic style is somewhat different but it's a welcome change nonetheless. As for the music, while it's not as iconic this time, it does not disappoint and there are some great new tunes. On the whole, an under appreciated game in my view.

By far the best of the three in my opinion, exceptional music, level and sprite design, one of the very best on the Amiga. The only issue i had with it was i felt the Alien and Terminator style bosses resembled a little too closely their movie counterparts, more originality would of went a long way here i feel.

For Turrican 3 you shouldn't say good or bad when comparing it to its predecessors, as it's different! Stripped of the vision of its creator, it becomes a pure nineties game like so many others you could find on Console. If you like this more linear, fast-paced but never frustrating way to play, then TURRICAN 3 will love it. After all, in this game there is nothing that doesn't work, it just has the problem of carrying with it the weight of a name and a generation that is too bulky. Personally, I have always preferred it to a second chapter that I have always considered too dispersive and not very effective in the maps. My personal ranking:
1 - Turrican
2 - Turrican 3
3 - Turrican 2

A pretty mediocre port of a awesome game. Music aside, the game looks basic in comparison of the Mega Drive version and the controls are very awkward, not worth playing

Good platform game although it has little to do with its two predecessors.
Well, here we are already in 1993 with the consoles dominating the market: the colors are totally different, we no longer have few colors with 8-bit or 16-bit machines where enemies are distinguished by clear color differentiation but we work with many colors. That makes everything shoot except the main character, where the shapes and limits of the enemies are not distinguished, it is quite confusing (welcome to the 90's), you just have to compare "the energy line" of the first two versions with that of this game The music is not bad but it did not captivate me.
It is quite playable

I much more prefer the console-like level design and gameplay of Turrican 3 than the precedessors'. It's an excellent game. I wonder if there had been an official CD32 port in development according to the advertisement to the right.

While not as great as its illustrious predecessors, Turrican 3 is nevertheless a good game that delivers some solid platform shooting action.

Turrican 3 looks and plays quite different from its two predecessors, offering a more console-like run and gun experience with less emphasis on exploration. That's unsurprising given the Megadrive origins of the title and the fact that many Amiga users and magazines were praying to see more and more console-style games on the Commodore machine at the time. All in all Turrican 3 is, while diverging from the original formula, excellent at everything it does both technically and playability wise. It might be not much of an iconic game for the Amiga but it's nonetheless one of the best action games of the 16-bit age and a slightly underrated classic (9/10).

The rope thing spoils it. Awkward and fiddly.

The lazer when you held fire was what Turrican was all about.

Not as good as Turrican 1 or 2 but a good game. The rope/swinging thing made the game worst then its preceddors. Also the level design feels quite linear. First levels colorful graphics did not fit the mood either. Hülsbeck's soundtrack is great as expected from him. If it was not a turrican game, then i'd be giving it a 9 or 10. But 7 is more then enough for this one.

PS: Dozens of planets were destroyed and hundreds of people were enslaved. Bren decides to act as he gets a message from a "young and beautiful" girl. ??!? But not before, as their cries were heard all through the galaxy.

I have to disagree about the part about Chris Hülsbeck's music. I love his music in all 3 Turrican-Games. And it still takes me back to the 90s. T3 is indeed a bit too easy, but I still like the atmosphere.

Not horrible at all, on the contrary, it's a nice shoot'em up/platform. Unfortunately it can't stand in comparison to the first two Turrican chapters, lacking their depth, atmosphere, difficulty, originality... Well, everything that made those two games legendary.
Graphics are good, even if very confusing in the first two worlds (I often fell into pits because I couldn't understand where there was a platform and where not), but enemies are rather flat and uninteresting, and so are level bosses. No sign of the awesome monsters, gigantic creatures and war machines you had to confront in Turrican 1 and 2. Even Chris Hülsbeck's music doesn't sound very inspiring here, I couldn't spot a single memorable theme, whereas the first two chapters were packed with some of the best Amiga music ever composed.
Some cool ideas are there, like the plasma rope, or the count of lives and diamons at the end, enabling you to see if you missed something.
So, again, a nice game but a disappointing Turrican sequel.

Did they put a dinosaur on the jacket because Jurassic Park (the movie) was released approx. At the same time ?

The last and weakest Turrican imo, though not a bad game by any means. Too easy and and lacking inspiration in the level design.

By far the easiest part of the Turrican Trilogy. I ran through it during the first try ...

Too bad Turrican got easier with every released game ...

But it has one of the most appealing intros on Amiga. And of course you HAVE TO see the End Credits. Makes me some sort of sad for the old days ... Every time I see it.

A pretty damn good game. A lot less frustrating then the second game due to there not being nearly as high a chance of getting lost and running out of time. Still, if I had to pick I'd say the grapling hook was probably the most annoying game mechanic I have ever come across in any game. It was slow, the aiming was tedious, it got stuck all the time, it never let go when you wanted to and let go when you didn't etc.

Still, darn good game, whenever you didn't need to use it.

Turrican 3 has different gameplay than its two predecessors, but it is still a very, very good Amiga game in its own right. The grappling hook mechanic appeals to me much more than the beam weapon of the previous parts. I never liked the two original installments of Turrican too much (I think they are overrated), and Turrican 3 is clearly my favourite part of the series. Yes, the gameplay is simple and easy, but it's a lot of fun! Turrican 3 is one of these games which let you forget all around you.

The artwork is very atmosperic and unique (meaning, the style in which it is executed - not so much *what* is depicted… the Alien level for example is something that has been done so many times already). There are a couple of effects which are seldom seen in Amiga games, like sprite rotation and sprite zoom.

Compared to the Mega Drive version, there are fewer colors and animation in the Amiga version, although there is more detail in other graphical aspects in the Amiga version, for example the weapon items are just colored orbs in the Mega Drive version, but actual symbols in the Amiga version. So, overall the Mega Drive may have slightly better graphics overall but still the graphic in the Amiga version are just superb.

The Music is excellent as well, as expeceted from Huelbeck and Hippel.

Turrican 3 is another great game from that era when German outfits were still producing AAA titles, and a must have for the Amiga library.

The music holds up very well for this entry as with the first two games, but sadly the gameplay, level design and fun factor found in the original two games was lost in transition. A fair game, but after Turrican 2 I think it was destined to fail in comparison.

Turrican 3 is an unfortunate victim of it's own heritage, If it had been released without the Turrican name as an unrelated game then I'm fairly sure it would be hailed as a classic Amiga title. Unfortunately being a Turrican game, and one that strays very far gameplay wise from it's predesessors there were certain things expected of it from die hard fans that were not delivered. Taken on it's own merits this is easily one of the best linear, brainless, all out action platformers on the system (and definately one of the few to be proud of on Amiga) it's much closer to something like Contra than it's Turrican brothers and as such should be checked out by fans of that series whether they hate previous Turrican's or not (as this plays nothing like the other Turrican's)

I suppose the only people who are dissapointed by this are Turrican enthusiasts. Take away the Turrican name and you still get a top quality console platform shooter, not something you'd see on the Amiga everyday. This just proved that the Amiga was in the same league as the Mega Drive and SNES, something which was never fully proven due to some bad conversions like SF2 and FF. It's an easy game, but thats console games for you.

Cthulu you are right on, I just played through this 15 minutes ago on my a1200 and on first try too. Waay to easy, but wasn't this first made for console and later ported to amiga and not the other way around like the other 2 games ?? Maybe that could explain it....Nevermind, it's still pretty neat and with the usual quality graphics and sound we expect from a turrican game, meaning presentation is top notch, so grab it for that at least .

A satisfying climax of the Turrican series, but nothing groundbreaking. The levels are small and mostly very linear compared to the first two installment. This game is focused not on exploration but combat: it has a wider variety of enemies and MUCH more bossfights than the previous ones. (Sometimes multiple bosses per level!) The graphics is still awesome - especially World 4 with its color-changing background -, though the music is perhaps not as catchy as the prevous ones. The game has a great intro, too. As some people mentioned, Turrican 3 is very easy on normal difficulty level, you can easily finish it at the first or second attempt. Overall, it's a great action game in itself, but lacks the charm and replayability of the first two parts.

By far the weakest of the three TURRICAN games. The graphics are smooth but really really ugly and the level design is not as sophisticated as in the predecessors. The good playability saves this from being a total failure which is quite a disappointment. (74%)

For a game no one liked a score of 8.06 is really something... Anyway, of course "Turrican 3" is not as good compared to the 2 classic prequels, but then again, to be better than them would have meant that another games-system like PSX with CD-ROM abilities should have been used... The limits for a 2D arcade-shooter on the AMIGA were broken with Turrican 2 and that's the end of it... This one stands as a solid game except the fact that it was way too easy... Good but not great.

A somewhat disappointing conversion of "Mega Turrican", at least the music was improved but the graphics and effects suffered a lot. I actually emailed the main programmer about this once and I was told they wouldn't have been able to keep the parallax otherwise but I'm not too sure about that, as games such as Jim Power and Lionheart proved you didn't have to sacrifice colours and transparencies to implement parallax scrolling. Oh well.

Also way too easy in my opinion, especially compared to its tough-as-nails predecessors, I remember skipping all the extra life bonuses I came across to milk some more enjoyment out of the game.

As a true Turrican-addict, I am very disappointed with this last version of the three. Graphics are bland and somewhat unclear and sometimes even flickery, gameplay is not that good, with the bionic arm slowing the action down very much. Also the level-design is not good; linear and confusing due to sameness in platforms and backgrounds. The only thing that has remained up to par with the previous two Turrican's is the music.

A good game, but not as good as its prequel. The conversion from Genesis to Amiga was technically handled well (the music and graphics were slightly improved), but the gameplay suffered a bit. The Genesis version had separate buttons for firing and using the bionic arm, and allowed rapid-fire shooting. Moving the game to the one-button interface on Amiga caused a few problems, as the levels were designed with rapid-fire in mind. Conversion problems aside, the gameplay is still not as good as the first two games. The wide-open levels of the previous games in the series have been replaced with much more linear Contra-style ones. Due to this, the whole feel of the game is different. It plays well, but feels distinctly un-Turrican.

This game is OK but cannot come closer to T2. Instead of the beautiful graphics and attention given to detail in the previous title, we see crude and rushed graphics. Looks like some of the artwork from previous games was scanned or whatever to be used in this game. You understand this is not Turrican 2 right when you see the new Turrican logo.

The first "modern Turrican" ever made. The console-style influence on graphic and gamplay is obvius and this is its best quality.
Whitout the enormous, useless and boring levels seen in the second episode, Turrican 3 provides tons of fast-paced, spectacular shooting action.
Level design became organic, most concentate and the focus pass from the exploration to the adrenalin-filled situations.
The mechanic rope "a la" Bionic Commando gives variety and it is well used during the game. Boss design is simply amazing and the graphics is wondeful.
What do you want more?

This isn't as good as the first two games. It's an adequate shooter in its own right, but it lacks the clear "Amiga"-ish look and feel of the original, replacing it with console-style clutter; the levels also feel a bit too linear with none of the "go and explore and find hidden goodies" sense the first two had. The 'rope swing' thing is rubbish, too.

It's shorter & easier than the previous, doesn't give as much freedom, and generally doesn't feel right (the wheel is gone???) - but it's not worthless. There are some good ideas here and there. Some things I wonder. Why not use a multiplexed sprite-background like in the previous parts, instead of the dualplayfield which makes certain stages look colorless? And why stuff starts flashing when there's too much of it onscreen, I thought doublebuffering should take care of that?

Way more console-ish than the first two games in the series, but not bad at all. It wasn't up there with Turrican 2, that's for sure, but it was well designed and quite entertaining, if a bit short and easy. A good effort from Factor 5, nothing more, nothing less.

First bought the soundtrack at World of Commodore 1993. Half a year later then I got the game and I was stunned by the soundtrack again. Didn't play the prequels before that time so I wasn't disappointed - only by the difficulty settings: I finished the game in about 3 hours after purchase. That sucked. Playing on "hard" was still to easy while "maniac" remains unbeaten by me.
However, Turrican 2 isn't that much harder to finish either.

When I saw this for the first time, I had to say "why?" This game is a biggest dissapointment of my Amiga-gamer life. Bad graphics (especially in higher levels - scrapyard, aliens etc.), average soundtrack (imho only "Screwnutt Hall" tune is good, but short), and very, very bad gameplay in comparation with its prequels. I have a tear in my eye.
