What Happened To Skye Sweetnam ???

thumbnail-12

In the early 2000’s Canadian singer Skye Sweetnam was making a name for herself with songs like”Billy S.” “Tangled Up in Me” and “Number One.” The singer from Bolton, ON also created theme songs for the likes of Radio Free Roscoe, The Buzz on Maggie, Wayside and My Life Me.  But despite initial success she seemed to disappear from the mainstream scene. So what happened to the angsty pop punk singer ???

Well basically she evolved in a manner of speaking. She went from her pop punk music and turned it into alternative metal and hard rock with a band she fronts called Sumo Cyco. Skye would even create an alter-ego called “Sever.” The bands music won’t get much if any airplay based on the genre of music but with things like streaming it doesn’t bother them. They open for big bands of the genre and have even gotten signed by Napalm Records. The band released 3 albums the latest was in 2021 with “Initiation.”

While she doesn’t get the mainstream attention she once did Skye continues to find success in the music industry, living her best life expressing her creativity in with the band music and videos. Skye is proof you don’t need to have to be mainstream in order to succeed in music.

And sadly she doesn’t play “Billy S.” anymore … I have asked.
