About Leopold Pollack

Leopold Pollack and his two sons were the owners of Delicia, a pastry shop and lunchroom in Beethovenstraat that was well known in Amsterdam’s southern district in the 1930s. During the 1942 razzias, the occupying forces assigned Delicia the task of providing food for the Jews being held in the Hollandsche Schouwburg pending their transport to Westerbork.

Leo Pollack's daughter and son in law

Leo Pollack also had a daughter, Zerline Else Pollack (born Frankfurt am Main February 22, 1910; died NY May 23, 1981). Her husband, Paul Jakubowski (born Selestadt, France May 30, 1904; died NY April 13, 1983) also worked at Delicia. Else and Paul fled Amsterdam for New York in 1940. They settled in New York and were instrumental at the Bakery Éclair in New York City. They had one daughter, Yvonn…
