A group led by a Hitachi Ltd. researcher said Saturday it has developed a communications device for people suffering from severe paralysis caused by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
The device, dubbed Kokoro Gatari (Mind Talk), allows people with ALS to communicate "yes" or "no" by measuring changes in their cerebral blood flow.
The device will be presented Sunday at an international symposium on ALS in Yokohama.
