Wonder Dog - Sega Mega-CD and Amiga port enhanced for the Amiga CD32

A very special release to begin the week and this time it's from Earok and team, is an enhanced Amiga CD32 game that I think you might enjoy. This is none other than ' Wonder Dog ', which originally appeared on the Sega Mega-CD in 1992 by Core Design and was then ported over to the Amiga. But unlike the original Amiga version which star'd a dog who must rescue his home planet from invading forces, this one has been enhanced with far better pallets so it's more in line with the Sega version and not the original Amiga one.

Oh and just to sweeten sale even more, is a new insomnia: the inclusion of bundles with new releases throughout the week which will also be part of the sale.

Retro Virtual Machine v1.1.0 - Feature packed ZX Spectrum emulator for Mac OS X

For those of you who have followed Indie Retro News throughout the year, you have probably noticed that we mainly feature retro games and PC(Windows) based news. But last week I was contacted about a brand new ZX Spectrum emulator for Mac OS X, that had some rather interesting features which could make it the number 1 emulator to be used on a Mac. The emulator I'm going to mention is ' Retro Virtual Machine ' which is currently at version 1.1.0.

WinUAE 3.3.0 Beta 9 - The latest Amiga emulator release, but with improved performance?

I was starting to wonder when we'd see another Amiga emulator beta release from Toni Wilen and sure enough just yesterday, he released ' WinUAE 3.3.0 Beta 9 '. Although this isn't a big update in the grand scheme of things, it does have one interesting feature and that is OS4.x UAE trap mode using hybrid busy wait mode, which according to Toni improves performance. One such user by the name of Aegis has already tried it and noted a 8 frame rate increase in Quake. So head on over to the download link, and let us know if it does the same on your system!

Brutal Doom 64 - Enhanced Doom 64 gets new alpha footage!

Throughout last year and into this one, we've been featuring many of SGtMarkIV's release updates for Brutal Doom, which as we said before was pretty much the bloodiest Doom mod we've come across, with more gibs and guts than you could ever need in a first person shooter. But now after some hinting, the same creator has moved onto ' Brutal Doom 64 ', which according to SGt, "revitalizes the old Doom 64 with new special effects, particles, lightning, gore, new sounds, more weapon animations (shotgun reloads, smoother minigun barrels, etc.) and monsters and stuff cut from the original Nintendo 64 version". To coincide with this news, a new alpha footage tease has been released, and from what we've seen looks rather good!

GOG's Weekend Promo - A Square Meal 60%+ off games such as Deus Ex!

We haven't featured a good GOG promo for awhile, and today we've came across a rather nice one with GOG's Weekend Promo - A Square Meal, which has 60% off individual Square Enix games and 80% off for completing your collection. That's right retro gamers this is a big old haul of retro goodness from Square Enix, with games such as Deus Ex™: GOTY EditionTomb Raider 1+2+3Thief™ 2: The Metal AgeStartopia, Hitman 3: Contracts, Anachronox, Revenant and many more that will keep you occupied for hours. Amiga A600 Vampire II Update - SAGA Driver, and it's FAST!

As many of you well know, the Vampire II for the A600 has been out a little while now and there isn't one person I have personally spoken to that is disappointed with it. In fact it is so fast, that some have rushed to Facebook and showed benchmarks as bragging rights against the much older accelerators that even for their time were rather fast. Well today we've got another video for you from Modern Vintage Gamer, and this one is showing the Amiga A600 Vampire II through HDMI using the SAGA driver and playing work in progress ports such as Rise of the Triad and Duke Nukem. Let me just tell you, this is probably the best footage yet showing just how fast these games are running, something unheard of in its Amiga life time.

RESHOOT: A new Amiga shoot´em-up coming 2016 is playable on a real A1200!

Another game that was mentioned and one I think might be a bit of hit with the Amiga gamers, is Richard Lowenstein, Adam Morten and Kevin Saunders Shoot em up ' RESHOOT ', which hopefully is coming this year to the A1200, A4000 and CD32. Although it was said to be coming to these systems before it wasn't until this month that the developers officially announced the game was working on real hardware with just 2 MB of RAM!

Treasure Island Dizzy - Sam Coupe WIP version gets a gameplay footage update

Last year I gave you the heads up for a new work in progress port of the classic The Oliver Twins game ' Treasure Island Dizzy ', which is coming to the Sam Coupe. Currently in development by Adrian Brown, this version is being reverse engineered from the Amiga with inclusive graphics and maps that have been extracted into the Sam Coupe system. As of today the developer has released an updated work in progress footage which shows improvements over the Amiga version including scrolls that unroll and roll up like the ZX Spectrum and something else was also added which you need to see for yourself.

Errazking's Petaco'5 - Ear blasting Pinball release for the C64

When Errazking gave me the heads up for his new Pinball compilation release for the C64, I was just a little bit excited. Pinball on any system is one of the coolest gaming experiences, especially if you've ever played Pinball Fantasies on the Amiga! But enough about that game, this is ' Errazking's Petaco'5 ' a 6 table compilation of Pinball machines for the C64 with a stunning set of tunes by Richard Bayliss and additional programming by Maniak.

Green Beret retro classic gets a 2016 PC remake footage tease!

You may or may not remember the name Langford Productions, but that developer was behind the previous enjoyable remakes such as Cookie, Pssst, Pyramid, Jumping Jack, Automania and The Hunch. Each one from the ZX Spectrum that was given a rather cartoony look, with original graphics included and made fully playable on the PC. So after all those were announced I gave Langford Productions a task, could the developer remake the famous game ' Green Beret '! Which was one of the most difficult action platformers I have ever played on the Amstrad CPC 464. Sure enough, today we got the first tease for the Green Beret Remake, and so far it's looking pretty decent!

An Earok Helicopter triple special and it's for the Amiga CD32!

Oh what a Tuesday this is going to be for Amiga CD32 owners, as Earok and team haven't just released one Amiga CD32 pack but they've gone crazy and released three! Yes indeed three packed up CD32 titles which include Apocalypse, Zeewolf Collection and Strike Collection which also has Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, Urban Strike Game Gear and Seek and Destroy. That's three incredible packs with inclusive sequels and unofficials that will last you into this week and possibly beyond.

System Shock 1 Remastered gets Pre-Alpha gameplay footage and it looks GOOD!

In 1994 the developers Looking Glass and the publisher Origin Systems released the incredible game of ' System Shock '. A first person action RPG set aboard a space station in a cyberpunk vision of the year 2072, that even at the time of its release had a great 3D Engine, with physics and complex gameplay. As such it is a highly regarded collectors item, but it is nothing compared to what you about to see in the latest pre-alpha gameplay footage, from the developers Night Dive Studios for the System Shock Remaster powered by the Unity Engine!

The Amstrad CPC gets some converted tunes such as Ghosts 'n' Goblins!

It has been ages since we have featured any Amstrad CPC tunes, and that is about to change as of today. From the creator of ' Now That's What I Call Chip Tunes (WinAPE) ' comes some brand new conversions for the CPC! Converted by none other than SuTeKH/Epyteor are 5 disks for you to load up and listen to that are sure to bring back those gaming memories. Donkey Kong - Atari 8-bit Arcade HACK is in development & Atari 5200 conversion released

In 1981 Nintendo released one of the most famous games of all time, and that game was ' Donkey Kong '. A game in which you played as Mario that must avoid obstacles across a number of platforms, with sometimes a hammer in hand to save a damsel in distress from a giant ape called Donkey Kong. That same game appeared as a port on a number of systems and it is the Atari 8bit version that is getting a hack by darryl1970 with a number of tweaks and enhancements.

Adventureland Dizzy - Behold gamers, a BIG Dizzy game has appeared!

Although I had gone off Dizzy for a bit due to some issues with us and the Wonderland Dizzy announcement, basically no feedback from The Oliver Twins. I was overjoyed to hear from JDC Studios of a brand new Dizzy fan game, that has only just been released. From the creator of Dizzy in the Dungeons and Dizzy Quest, comes a rather large dizzy game called ' Adventureland Dizzy ' which has 110 Screens to explore, puzzles to solve , 30 golden stars to find and graphics taken from classics such as Magicland Dizzy, Fantastic Dizzy and Spellbound Dizzy.

Encounter +3DIG - Hokuto Force's next C64 release is a bit of a 3D shooter!

Hokuto Force are on form again as with all the releases so far this year, we've got another one to mention and this one is a game that is very similar to the Arcade game of Battlezone but for the C64. Called ' Encounter ' and originally released in 1984 by Paul Woakes through Novagen Software in the UK and Synapse in the USA. This is a first person shooter and features eight environments, three difficulty levels and a rather unique 3-D graphical style with scaled sprites instead of wireframe 3D graphics. Thanks to Hokuto Force they have released the disk based version, which included more features compared the Novagen one, plus a trainer, loader system replacement by Arcane, menu system improvement by Arcane and bug fixes.

The Rainbow Silkroad - Full translation for a 90's NES trading RPG

Some great news today for NES owners, as Aishsha and Pennywise have done a complete translation of the NES RPG trading styled classic of ' The Rainbow Silkroad ', which was originally released way back in the 90's as Niji no Silkroad. Although I don't know much about the game, Romhacking was on hand to help and have said you take the role of the long-lost prince of Littleland, who must reclaim his throne from the guy Zrool that took the throne and was evil.

Drugs +5HFTD - Frustrating C64 shoot em up, PAL/NTSC fixed by Laxity

Another day another C64 release, and this comes directly from Laxity's cool stash of games with the latest PAL/NTSC fix of ' Drugs +5HFTD '. A rather unheard of shoot em up from way back in 1989, you must blast waves of enemies through 13 levels that come at you from both sides while also avoiding smashing your spaceship into the space based landscape. And why are you doing this you may ask? To defend the Earth from the Aliens who are flooding the Earth with powerful drugs to enslave the Human race of course!
