Gooninuff - A new Intellivision game with an inspiration to The Goonies goes FREE!

There's so many of us that remember The Goonies, a movie about a group of young misfits called The Goonies who discover an ancient map and set out on an adventure to find a legendary pirate's long-lost treasure. Well if you too remember it and the game which appeared on the C64, Atari 8bit and Apple II in 1985, you might be interested in todays news. As thanks to Liqmatrix contacting us just recently, he has told us that the AtariAge member of Cmadruga, has made available for FREE the new Intellivision game called 'Gooninuff'; a game which is an Intellivision inspiration to that classic movie.

SNAKY - The Mysterious World - A new Amiga AGA game from Yoz Montana gets an early access demo

This month we have been flooded with Amiga game news from the latest Devil's Temple : Son of the Kung-Fu Re-Master, to Temptations and Project Quest - Level 3. Well if you're hoping for more Amiga goodness, we have been told through EAB messages, that Yoz Montana has made available an early access demo for the Amiga AGA game of 'Snaky - The Mysterious World'. In light of this news we have a new screenshot to show you and hopefully a new video soon from Saberman.

Raid Over Moscow - HOT NEWS as an all time classic has finally arrived on the Plus/4!

October is going all out with the great news, as if you think Devil's Temple was a rather special announcement, then Raid Over Moscow on the Plus/4 will have your jaws hitting the floor. Yes indeed this amazing 8bit game of which we have announced previously but for the Amiga, has finally been released by TCFS for the Plus/4 ; a great game that was originally released in the early 80's for the C64, Atari 8-bit, Amstrad CPC, BBC Micro, ZX Spectrum and Apple II.

If you've been following all of our news stories in regards to Geezer Games 'Devil's Temple - Son of the Kung-Fu Master'; which is an unofficial spin off from the 1980's classic game 'Kung Fu'. Then you'll be excited to learn, as thanks to Geezer Games who gave us the shout out this morning, that Devil's Temple - Son of the Kung-Fu Master has been released and can be either downloaded or purchased as a BIG BOX edition.  Yes indeed if you're looking to play a kick ass fighting game from one of the best developers in the Amiga scene, then read on as you are in for a treat.

Temptations - An Amiga 1200/CD32 port(?) demo of an MSX game released back in 1988

You might like this Amiga news story that's just been sent to us by Saberman this evening, as we've been told that an EAB member of 'S0Y', has released a demo of a work in progress game called 'Temptations'. A game which according to the developer, is a Redpill Amiga conversion of an MSX game that was released way back in 1988 by Topo Soft. To coincide with this news story, Saberman has also done a gameplay video for you to view if you wish to see if the game is any good before downloading the demo.

Street Fighter 2 as a tech demo on the Amiga by NeesoGames with a NEW parallax update

We've featured Street Fighter for the Amiga a number of times now, each one showing a "what if" of what Street Fighter 2 would like on the Amiga if it was ported properly, for example one person is quoted as saying for the original Street Fighter 2 as "Shockingly Bad". So here we are with another showing, but unlike the other ones we've featured previously, this one is a downloadable 20/10/2022  tech demo which can be downloaded thanks to our good friend NeesoGames!

Weather War III - Command the elements in this new game for the C64

Not to be left behind with all the latest Amiga titles we've featured this morning, it's time for the C64 to get in on the retro gaming fun, as we've recently found out through Liqmatrix who sent us the heads up, that Kraksnax has released a new C64 game called 'Weather War III'; a 40th anniversary salute to Bob Carr in which you must use the weather to attack your opponent as a 1-player game competing in multiple rounds against a computer opponent OR a 2 player showdown. 

Robocop AGA - Upcoming Robocop remake via Daniel Allsopp gets another vid update

It was only just recently that we gave you the heads up that 'Robocop' was coming to the Amiga as a complete AGA rework, developed in 68k ASM for those of you who felt the original 1989 Ocean/Data East game was rather lacking. Well just recently thanks to another heads up via Per Ola Eriksson, Daniel Allsopp who is behind this AGA rework, has posted a brand new work in progress video showing how far the game has come since its first announcement all those months ago.

Outpost - A short C64 entry for the Retro Platform Jam #5 by Endurion

Another game to add to a long list of C64 titles we've seen this year already, as we've recently been told by a good friend of ours via Facebook, that Endurion has released a brand new Commodore 64 game of 'Outpost ' through itch io. A game which according to some in the video comments below, is this is either like Project Firestart or as another person puts it, that Aenophobe game. In light of this news, Saberman has done a gameplay video of Outpost which as ever can be viewed further down the page.

DRIFT! 2K22 - A rather cool car game from 2019 for the ZX Spectrum by ZOSYA entertainment gets an upgrade

ZOSYA entertainment have made some incredible ZX Spectrum games throughout the years, games such as Drift!, Valley of Rains, Travel Through Time Volume 1, Angels and even the latest Adventure game of Don Quixot for the 16k and above. Well here we are with another announcement from this homebrew creator, as they have released a rather large improvement to their 2019 ZX Spectrum game DRIFT;  a seriously cool looking game whereby the aim is to drift around a set amount of laps for a high score.

Lucy Dreaming - A humorous nod to classic Adventure games is coming to Steam 18th October!

I think it's about time we put those homebrew games aside and look towards an Adventure game that may excite those who played Adventure games throughout the 90's. As we've recently been informed through our email and Twitter, that Tall Story Games Ltd humorous point and click adventure game of 'Lucy Dreaming' is coming to Steam as of 18 Oct, 2022. To coincide with this news, you can either watch the trailer below or check out the latest Demo of the game which can be launched through Steam.

JITNOG V2 - Judge those that have sinned in this rather unique C64 game!

Another C64 game has appeared and rather than the usual platformers we've come across, this one requires only the skill of a Judge to punish those that have sinned . Titled as ' JITNOG ', this new V2 update by frodewin, Logiker, DeMOSic and neyvivi, is a game in which playing as the Judge In The Name Of God, you must follow a set of rules and punish those have committed crimes while doing all of this in a limited amount of time. Yes it sounds rather odd but watch the video below and you'll get an idea of how to play :)

The Circus Mystery - An enjoyable Arcade Platformer released for the MSX via the MSXDev'22

Another great news has just hit our inbox and one I think MSX gamers across the globe will enjoy playing, as thanks to Saberman contacting us earlier today, we've been told that if you head on over to the MSXdev'22 competition page linked below, you can try out the latest family fun game of 'The Circus Mystery' by DTenso Games. A new game in which you must stop the Alien invasion that has taken over the Circus and its Animals! In light of this news, there's also a new gameplay video for you to view before you download and play the game on your MSX.

Bruce Lee - Return of Fury - A continuation of a classic 80's game has been released for the Atari XL/XE

In 1984 Datasoft released a brilliant arcade platformer called 'Bruce Lee' which was based on the famous motion picture martial artist. It was and still is a highly regarded platformer that is still loved to this day and can be played by anyone. But boy do we have some great news for you, as a Bruce Lee fan game by the name of Bruce Lee - Return of Fury, originally released for the PC, then by MegaStyle for the C64, has appeared on the Atari XL/XE thanks to Ute, Fantomas and Konstantinos Giamalidis.

1942 - A classic Arcade Shooter arrives on the Atari 7800 and it's GOOD!

In 1984 a great shoot em up was released for the Arcade by Capcom and that game was 1942. A game in which you shoot down enemy planes, avoided being shot out of the sky and performed awesome rolls while collecting power ups. One of the more unusual power ups was being escorted by two other planes in formation that gave you the edge. It was an awesome game and still is today, but the news of right now is thanks to a heads up in our email, we've been told Playsoft has released the Arcade game of 1942 for the Atari 7800, and yes it's bloody good too!

Lilly’s Saga – The Stones of Evergreen - Could this love letter to 80's and 90's classics for the MSX2 be a winner?

Unless you were living in a cave, many of you will remember the classic game that is ' Super Mario Bros ', a game that was produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and released by that famous company Nintendo in the late 80's for the NES. It is an incredible platformer that has had many sequels and spin offs on different systems, ranging from the NES all the way up to my personal favorite the DS. Well if you too are a fan of Mario but are looking for something fresh on the MSX2, you'll be interested to know that as of right now you can play Fabulous 8bit's love letter to Super Mario Bros called "Lilly’s Saga – The Stones of Evergreen"; The 31st entry into the MSXdev22 competition.

DICED - A high quality Dice game released by Mi-Chi & Def Danny for the MSX1

I may not have an MSX but there are certain games that have appeared over the years in the homebrew scene, that have really opened my eyes to just how good the system is for a multitude of different genres. One such game that caught my eye that looks well worth a play is Mi-Chi and Def Danny's latest MSX1 game of 'DICED - Tournament'. A high quality MSX 1 game where players meet at the annual dice-tournament to throw dice and get drunk against over 190 unique opponents in 17 tournaments!

My Sacred Place - The 25th entry into the MSXDev'22 competition is an action strategy RPG

Another retro gaming news story to keep you company, as thanks to Saberman contacting us this morning, we've been told that a brand new game for the MSX1 called 'My Sacred Place' is available to play. This game developed by Mario Cavalcanti for the MSXDev 22 competition, is an action strategy RPG in which you have to protect your village’s garden from the clutches of the fearsome Garks. To coincide with this news, we've also got a new video for you to view as a first look to the game.

The Darkness Below - This upcoming dungeon crawler for the PC looks amazing!! (+Demo)

First Person Dungeon Crawlers have a huge fan base on Indie Retro News, so many of us love games such as Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Ishar and even ones just released on the Amiga such as the great Shadows of Sergoth or Black Dawn Rebirth. Well here we are with another special announcement especially if you love dungeon crawlers, as Sabbas Eleftheriadis has shown off some brand new screenshots for the work in progress PC game of The Darkness Below; A first person grid based dungeon crawler that is sure to excite many in the RPG community.
