All Terrain Racing - A very festive Christmas Edition Mod (Amiga)

One of the most enjoyable racing games on the Amiga other than games such as Super Cars or Nitro was in fact the 1990's Team 17 game of ' All Terrain Racing '; A game many would say has not just good graphics and sound, but features lots of addictive gameplay with 3 cars to choose from and 42 well designed tracks. Well if you remember this enjoyable game, you'll be happy to know acd2001 has released the Christmas Edition Mod for the game featuring Christmas graphics from demo's alpine track.

A Christmas Carol - A festive game for the Amiga from Iron Gate

Iron Gate is certainly no slouch when it comes to making Amiga games, games such as The Zing, The Real Brus Lii and Mini Legión to name but a few. This time however Iron Gate is going all festive as recently they released their Amiga Christmas game ' A Christmas Carol' , which was developed by José A. Gonzáles (Jojo 073) with music by Cueik. Now I know some of you are very vocal when it comes to Iron Gate games, but hey atleast it's Christmas!

A Christmas ZX Spectrum bonanza from Andy Green

ZX Spectrum owners have we got a treat for you, as yesterday we were contacted by Andy Green that he has released the full package to his fabulous ZX Spectrum Christmas bonanza, which previously only contained 14 games. This ZX Spectrum Mega Games Bundle as he calls it, now features all of his gorgeous alternative loading screen artwork from many classic games, as well as turbo loaders, screen reveal while loading, cheats and much much more!

Top featured blog at Tierragamer and a Merry Christmas to you all

Another year is fast coming to a close and Christmas is tomorrow with kids and adults opening up their presents and perhaps loading up the odd retro game or two in a fit of nostalgia. For us it's been a very positive year that has been filled with some of the best games for some time with not just the Amiga, but also the C64 and ZX Spectrum as the highlights on our website. Although there have been some difficult times in health, the website has gone from strength to strength and as such I'd like to say a huge thank to you all with a BIG Merry Christmas, AND finally to check out our latest award by TierraGamer, coming 1st place as the top popular blog :) 1) Links

Merry Amiga XMas 2017 - A rather short Christmas themed Amiga game

Christmas is fast approaching with about three weeks to go till the big day and as expected the first of many Christmas themed games have made an appearance to celebrate this very festive season. Titled as 'Merry Amiga XMas 2017', this game was developed by Steril707 as a short Amiga OCS game, in which you play as Santa that needs to avoid being knocked off his sledge.

Chimney Presents - A short and enjoyable festive game by Daniel Linssen

Already Christmas day has come and gone, and although it's still Christmas week, we are fast approaching 2017 which is sure to bring lots more games to play. But before we get there, here's a game to celebrate this festive season ' Chimney Presents ' by Daniel Linssen. In this game you must help Santa deliver all the presents down each of the chimneys scattered throughout the level, but be careful with each scene, as it becomes ever more difficult for poor Santa, and at some point you might very well fall!

Pietro Bros - A stunning ZX Spectrum homebrew based on Mario Bros from the NES

Well it is finally Christmas day, oh the joys! This is the time when all the homebrew developers come together to show off their very special treats for both the young and old in all their retro gaming splendour. Welcome to possibly the best looking ZX Spectrum game we've seen so far this winter and one that has been in development for some time, Noentiendo - Pietro Bros by Cristian M. Gonzalez, built on z88dk and using Nirvana+ for the multicolour graphic engine.

Barbarian - A head chopping review on the ZX Spectrum

As it's Christmas, what better to celebrate the festivities by looking at a game where the main character looks like Jesus? Albeit with rather large sword in hand rather than that bread he made once. Not only is the Jesus reference valid, but also what better way to relate to Christmas than with a bit of violence? There's always a war film on at Christmas, a Bond film or failing that, there's always a bit of a scuffle with family members after one too many sherries. Or is that just my house?

The Bear Essentials - A rather lovely looking C64 platformer coming Christmas Eve!

The time has just gone past 1am and I'm nearly ready for bed, but I thought I'd mention a rather lovely platformer called ' The Bear Essentials ' that is coming to a C64 near you this Christmas Eve. Developed by Graham Axten, The Bear Essentials is a fun for all the family experience and your task is to help the big bear collect all the fruit before winter begins. It will feature 60 enemy types in over 60 screens spread across 6 unique areas, with both music and sound effects playing at the same time!

Crappy Crates - A very festive ZX Spectrum Review by Steve Trower

Well it's almost Christmas, and you know what that means, right? You got it, it means there's some poor chav working overtime in a warehouse somewhere, possibly for a company with a river-based name, we don't know. He's constantly shuffling boxes from remote corners of a warehouse into the despatch area, while being chased by giant Christmas puddings, weird little aliens and that big blue monster out of Sesame Street, mumbling something about crappy crates while his supervisor is out of earshot.

Max Knight Xmas - Festive Arcade fun on the Amiga as a demo

Every year when it comes close to Christmas you'll always find lovely festive games to play, either via a new Indie release or a homebrew game such as this one ' Max Knight Xmas ' for the Amiga. Released as a demo developed in Backbone with a full version due Feb 2017, you play as Max Knight and must traverse through 36 levels challenging levels in 5 worlds, collecting items, avoiding enemies and finally free your brother from the evil dragon!

Zombo's Christmas Capers! - A new festive ZX Spectrum game reviewed by Florinthedwarf

Santa isn't looking himself these days

It's the most wonderful tiiiiiiiiiimee...of the year, and what better way to celebrate than with a zombie and some evil sprouts? (Though, all sprouts are evil!) Poor Santa. Every year he's the busiest person in the world, for one day a least, so it's only natural/inevitable that he gets a bit stressed at this time of year. Taking this into account, the government have decided to give him the year (day?) off to help take away any stress that Mr C. may incur as a result of yet another consecutive year on the sleigh. Poor thing.

Merry Christmas from Horace - Steve Broads Christmas treat for the ZX Spectrum

Some more festive fun for our retro gaming readers, is the latest game from Steve Broad ' Merry Christmas from Horace ' for the ZX Spectrum 48K. Now many of you nostalgic geeks might remember this blue eyed, blob character with arms and legs, that's because he first appeared way back in 1982 in the Pac-Man style arcade game of Hungry Horace by Beam Software. Which was celebrated as the first arcade game for the ZX Spectrum and the first game in the Horace series, such as Horace and the Spiders and Horace Goes Skiing. Now thanks to Steve Broad, Horace is back, but this time in his own Christmas themed game collecting presents!

Amiga Christmas Crackers - A very festive unofficial Amiga CD32 release!

As Amiga Jay mentions for a Yuletide surprise, there's some great little games on here that you may have never heard or played before.

8-BIT XMAS 2016 - Retrousb's latest Xmas NES cart is a pinball game!

Ho ho ho it's Christmas, well not yet anyway, but that hasn't stopped Retrousb from selling their latest NES cart ' 8-Bit Xmas 2016 ', which is a new Pinball game in celebration of that very festive season. In this game you'll be bashing balls, hitting targets and aiming for the ultimate high score and the big SANTA for extra points. If you get a truly awesome score, you can upload it via the AVS and compare it with everyone else. So if you love NES Pinball and feel all Christmasy inside, then order soon and you'll get a lovely pristine cart made entirely from new parts in a clear dust sleeve with a printed Christmas card.

CGA: Christmas Game Arcade - A tiny racer but full of CGA fun!

I can't believe we missed out on this one on Christmas day, as not only is it a jolly good racer but it takes us back to a time of 1980's CGA graphics. A time when games such as Golden Axe, Defender of the Crown and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom where shown in 4 colour detail on IBM's first graphics card! So yes, we were pretty excited when we came across abstauber's CGA free racing game of' ' CGA: Christmas Game Arcade ' in which you need to race along a highway, picking up presents that have accidentally been dropped by Santa!

Christmas Was Better In The 80s!

It should be said at the outset that I possess about as much musical ability as a 16k Spectrum: I can make noises, but under no normal circumstances would they be considered musical. So when I came up with the idea of re-writing a classic Christmas song with a more retro-gaming friendly lyric about an hour before Christmas Eve, it should come as no surprise that it neither rhymes nor scans properly.

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM INDIE RETRO NEWS.

Here we are again with another Christmas and what a year it has been, full of incredible indie games, new homebrews, and lots of lost and found retro specials that have amazed even our own writers. From C64 games such as Caren and the Tangled Tentacles, Ghosts'n Goblins Arcade, Sams Journey and Commando Arcade SE, to the Amiga specials such as Blaze, Putty Squad and Smarty & The Nasty Gluttons. But that's not all we've had to enjoy, as we've had month after month of Amiga CD32 conversions thanks to Earok(+team), Amiga - PC releases from our good friends The Company.PL and new ZX Spectrum games such a Knightmare 2 ZX,  Rabbit in Wonderland and the massive high quality Castlevania Spectral Interlude!

Games That Weren't & Onslaught C64 Christmas update 2015!

Oh what a time to have a C64, especially so near Christmas, as Onslaught together with Games that weren't C64 have released probably the biggest load of C64 goodness we've seen this year. It is the ' Games That Weren't Christmas update 2015 ' which packs in some rather eye opening games that have either been lost and found or cracked, fixed and updated. Games such as Flimbo's Quest Preview , Nuker Preview V2 , Worron , Wildfire Preview, Sputnik Preview, Quantarallax Preview and Firefighter Mario, all ready to be played and enjoyed.
