Darkmere - A gritty Action RPG from the Amiga you might want to play! ( PC/MAC )

A bit of a slow news day to start Monday so kick it up a notch here's a lovely game you might want to play, and that's Darkmere ( Prequel to Dragonstone ), which was released way back in 1993/4 developed by Zero Hour Software and published by Core Design. This game classed as an action adventure RPG that has very decent Amiga graphics and a dark overtone, has since been packaged together with an emulator by Gamesnostalgia and can be launched on a PC or Mac without having to be set up!

Cookie - A veritable kitchen nightmare comes to C64

Having never owned a Speccy, I'm unfamiliar with "Cookie", however it seems to have had a decent following amongst our 8bit cousins, and now C64 fans get to find out why (without having to pollute their hard disk with a Spectrum emulator). Our friends at Reset Magazine posted yesterday that Cookie has been re-written from scratch for C64, and it is developer Andy Noble's first game this system, having ported many other retro games for windows and mac. It's a really nice conversion of the original and it's free to download right now.

Clash Force - 8-bit inspired run and gun appears on Steam

If playing on emulators and searching for old hardware isn't your thing you may be interested to know Spicy Gyro Games and published by Shiny Dolphin Games LLC, have released their first indie game on Steam as 'Clash Force'; a retro styled run-and-gun game in the style of classic NES platformers and side scrolling shooters. In the game you play as a member of the Clash Force, a weaponry force of stopping the Evil Crackman and his minions from causing mayhem. You'll fight through forest bases, hydrofied deserts, underground mines, and eventually to Crackman's Flying Fortress where the final battle will unfold!

Thy Sword - Tiny pixelated action platformer gets an early launch Trailer

Even more retro inspirations today and one that looks a lot more pixelated than Tower 57, is the upcoming hack n' slash platformer ' Thy Sword '  which not only had a successful Steam Greenlight campaign we've since been told the developers GamePhase have released a brand new launch Trailer to coincide with a possible November release! As noted by our previous write ups, Thy Sword draws its inspiration from Norse mythology with a touch of Conan the Barbarian, mixed up with great games such as Golden Axe, Moonstone and surprisingly enough Bubble Bobble.

Tower 57 - Eagerly awaited retro inspired shooter gets a 16th November release date!

This is just brilliant news and more so as it's a game that has featured highly on our website, as Cyangmou has told us that not only is the Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight success of 'Tower 57' coming to a home computer near you 16th November 2017. But the team behind the game Pixwerk and 11 bit studios have released a 11 FACTS about Tower 57 - premiere date trailer, which features more than your average retro inspirations!

PRECINCT 20 Dead Strange - A not so secret C64 project is revealed!

It was only just yesterday we announced a new project was in development by Alf Yngve and Richard Bayliss which looked to be a mash of Death Wish with a dab of horror thrown in for good measure. That game which was just a secret C64 project at first, has now been revealed as 'PRECINCT 20: Dead Strange' , and is based on a series of short stories under the same title with you in control of a police detective hunting for clues in a series of murders with possibly supernatural causes.

A C64 horror game is coming by Alf Yngve and Richard Bayliss!

Many of you may have heard the names Alf Yngve and Richard Bayliss, as they were behind games such as Hover Raider RX, Flying Cobra RX, Snatch McBlagger and even Dark Force : Redux on the C64. But now as a tweet heads up, they have announced they are working on a top-secret horror game project that is once again coming to the C64, and looks to feature some pretty nasty enemies!

Green Beret - Arcade classic coming to the Amiga gets new footage!

Remember when we announced that the 1980's action arcade game of ' Green Beret '/ ' Rush'nAttack' was coming to the Amiga? Well you'll be pleased to know as from this week, we've come across a post by Solo Kazuki on our website that shows actual gameplay of the upcoming Amiga version that will be released by Megastyle at some point in the near future!

Green Beret - Highly challenging retro classic is coming to the Amiga!

Green Beret screenshots are from the Arcade version

Green Beret or as some will know as Rush'n Attack was an action arcade game released by Konami in 1985. It is remembered for its Cold War setting and its reliance on the player using mainly a knife to dispatch enemies, although you were able to collect many different weapons including the flame thrower. Green Beret was one of the hardest games I had ever played and yet was one of the games that gave me the best memories! So if you remember this game you'll be pleased to know Green Beret is coming to the Amiga!

Castlevania 5 - A ROM hack with new additions and more for Castlevania!

What a great start to Monday as during the weekend the Romhacking website gave mention to a rather special Rom hack called ' Castlevania 5 ' for the original Castlevania released in 1986 on the NES. This hack by xXbelmontXx isn't just your usual tweak of a famous game, but will make it feel fresh and new with not just new graphics, but new stage designs, new sprites, new music, even a new ending screen!

It was only a few days ago we mentioned Pixwerk and 11 bit studios 16-bit shooter 'Tower 57' will be releasing soon on GOG and Steam for PC and Mac; an arcade love child of Alien Breed and Chaos Engine with fantastic 16-bit styled pixel art. Well you'll be overjoyed to know if you have an Amiga, especially an Amiga OS4, MorphOS or AROS, this game has recently been shown running on a A1222 Tabor, compiled and adjusted to natively use the Tabor's SPE floating point unit.

Silver Valley - Multi-genre game is in dev for the Sega Master System

If you have a Sega Master System or running an emulator, then you might be interested to know a developer by the name of Enrique Ruiz is working on a multi-genre game for the SMS that is currently known as ' Silver Valley '. A game which has been in development for some months now, looks to be a mash of other games such as Castlevania or Wonderboy and will feature not just platforming but also flying, shooting and even sailing through 64 levels, which will also have a story driving the action.

The Last Run - John Blythe teases a potential new ZX Spectrum game!

It's that name again John Blythe, creator of games such as The Darkness of Raven Wood, Foggys Quest, Circuitry, and his previous spiffy game called 'Peculiar Perplexing Perils Of Professor Poldark. But this time he's no longer going cute, as he has recently been teasing a new project he may or may not release in ' The Last Run '; a rather excellent looking action shooter. As in his words "our battalion is gone. Destroyed in the last airstrike from the enemy. You have one desperate, suicidal run at the enemy base. One last loony run. Make it count soldier! Make them pay soldier..."

Panic! Rooms - Defeat your enemies within your mansion in this upcoming Atari 2600 game

We haven't featured any Atari 2600 homebrew games for awhile so to change all that here's a game that's in development by Generation2 called ' Panic! Rooms ', which is coming to the Atari 2600 very soon. In this game you play as a rich and ruthless Texan oil tycoon who, after crushing his opponents to dominate the market, has ended up having to defend himself and his home in a labyrinth of Panic! Rescue - ZX Spectrum game reviewed by Florinthedwarf!

Saving all the memory for the game, eh? Let's hope so!

Here we have a game which some say is famous for its infamous loading screen or indeed the slight likeness to Harrison Ford on the game's front cover which shows the protagonist of the game. I try not to look at it like that. I like to think of it as the game that you can end in less than ten seconds if you try and take off without fuel. We've all done it, surely? Just me? Surely not! (and yes, I am serious before you ask).

Code name Hell Squad - Amiga CD to HD as a playable sci-fi action adventure!

No sooner had we mentioned DamienD's Amiga CD to Hard Drive conversion of the high quality isometric game 'Wasted Dreams', that another game was also converted over and that was the action adventure ' Code name Hell Squad ', which again was also developed by the same team Digital Dreams Entertainment and released in 2000. Shockingly enough some say this is one of the last ever games released commercially on the system and if it wasn't for these developers contacting the original dev's of this game, when it was known as Hellpigs by Classica Entertainment (link), it probably would've never seen the light of day!

Wasted Dreams - DamienD Amiga CD to HD conversion with an isometric action adventure

DamienD is up to his usual tricks again as once more he's looked towards a range of Amiga CD's, and converted the Amiga CD game ' Wasted Dreams ' to a bare-bones .HDF and .LHA file for easy play without the original CD. Now many of you probably haven't heard of this game, which isn't surprising considering it was released in 1999, but Wasted Dreams was developed by Digital Dreams Entertainment and is classed as a high quality isometric action game with adventure elements, but with a rather poor voiceover that does the voices for pretty much everything!

Rubicon +4DGHF - Tough C64 cookie to crack is trainered by Hokuto Force

Here's a game many of you C64 owners have heard of especially as some would say it looks nice on the outside but highly repetitive on the inside, is Twisted Minds/21st Century Entertainment's C64 shooter ' Rubicon ', which has since been given the +4DGHF treatment by Hokuto Force (one of the most hated game by the crackers for its protections). Now in this game you play as a gun blasting hero who has to make his way through many levels inhabited by mutated creatures to not only survive, but to diffuse a nuclear reactor after a horrific incident in Russia.
