Mamadou Sakho has served his provisional 30-day ban for failing a drugs test but is yet to receive a date for his disciplinary hearing from Uefa.

The Liverpool defender is waiting to hear from European football’s governing body and, according to the Daily Mail, is not expected to learn what his punishment will be this week.

Sakho tested positive for a banned substance following his side’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Europa League on 17 March.

The 26-year-old’s misconduct came to light in late April and Liverpool subsequently made him unavailable for selection while the investigation was on-going.

By that point, Sakho had already played twice in the competition’s quarter-finals against Borussia Dortmund, scoring in the second leg of a 5-4 aggregate win.

The France international, who will miss this summer’s European Championships as a result of his suspension, is understood to have tested positive for a ‘fat burning’ substance.

Sakho declined the chance to submit a B sample for further testing.

Uefa initiated disciplinary proceedings on April 28 and provisionally suspended the player for 30 days, a ban which has now expired.

“A date has not been confirmed yet,” a spokesperson from the governing body told the Mail. “More information will follow as of next week.”

Sakho missed the final seven fixtures of Liverpool’s season, including the Europa League final defeat to Sevilla.
