Quest of D Version 2.0 is the first major update to AM2's touch-screen dungeon-crawling series, which has been a major attraction in arcades since its release. In addition to an expected new set of D-Force cards, the update adds a thief job class to the list of selectable jobs. Thieves can jump, a useful skill for evading enemy attacks and obstacles, and have access to a mini bomb and an instant death attack.
Jobs actually have an added dimension in Version 2.0. You can now earn a support job for your character, giving you access to skills from other jobs.
Sega has also added two new character classes: the all-female Elf class and the all-male Dwarf class. Elves are faster than humans, with a high upper limit for agility and dexterity parameters. However, as elves are weak, they're strength and vitality parameters stay pretty low. Dwarfs are the opposite of elves -- stronger than humans, but slower.
Those tired of the interior environments of Quest of D will be pleased to learn that Version 2.0 takes the series out of dungeons for the first time. You'll now adventure through deserts and grass fields, areas that come complete with new enemies and traps.
The update to the golf game doesn't seem to be as extensive. Titled Sega Golf Club Version 2006: Next Tours, this update to the November 2004 original adds two courses: Phoenix Countryside and Bali Hai Golf Club. Both are officially licensed recreations of real courses. The game also adds the ability to select between a male and female caddy, and even specify clothing. Your own in-game persona isn't being left out, as you'll find a number of new dress-up items, making for 600 in all.
Both Sega Golf Club and Quest of D are set for Japanese arcade distribution later this year. We've uploaded trailer clips that we grabbed for both games from JAMMA.
